We thought you would enjoy these letters we have received over the past few years. We try to keep up with the folks who have our puppies. We love hearing from everyone and receiving pictures. It's such a joy for us, and we wanted to share.

Handsome Boss from our first litter. Sadly Boss passed away February 2008 after a long and full life with Jay and Anne. Any dog breeder can only hope that the homes where they place their precious puppies are loving. We could not have wished for a happier place for Atol "Boss" than with this lovely family. They always said he was everything they had hoped for, and I know Boss shared their sentiments. Thanks guys.

In case you were wondering, you really import some beautiful dogs. Attached is a head shot of Crash from a recent hike we took. Take care, T
Once again, thank you Tom for everything!! We are so proud of you and Crash, and I must say that he is a gorgeous boy.

You are correct about the puppies growing, they are both over 50lbs and growing daily. They are great pups, my daughter thanks me everyday for her birthday puppy presents. Hannah recently completed successfully the puppy and intermediate training courses with them. She did all of the training herself and did a great job. We will be taking them to an advanced course in the near future. Thanks you again for your assistance to select these dogs as they are beautiful animals.
Hope that all is well with you. Take care. Peter L.
Thanks for the great pictures of your family with Zeus and Delilia. Zeus and Delilia were imported from German and have found a wonderful home with lots of love and attention.

Alice and Fred,
How are you all? I just wanted to pass this video clip of Jager along. He is turning out to be just a wonderful pup. We can’t wait to take him hiking in the mountains this summer. He absolutely loves the snow and can’t get enough of it. When it was in the teens up here he wanted out so that he could lay in it. My wife just loves this dog!
Thanks again,
Don and Mindy
Thanks to Don and Mindy for being such great owners. Jager is a handsome boy. Jager is an import puppy from Germany. Picture of happy Jager jumping for joy in the snow. Thanks for the great picture!!

JANUARY 2007
Just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful website. I learned more about the german shepherd breed, the type of breeder , and the 'alphabet soup' designations on dogs from your website than I have from perusing the web for the past several weeks. I am in the preliminary stages of looking for a german shepherd puppy, and have encountered a variety of difficulties in ascertaining what a 'quality' breeder should or should not look like, sound like, and what constitutes a 'quality' pup. Everything from just a grand sales pitch, to condescention and outright rudeness when as a lay person attempting to find a solid, healthy animal I am ignorant of german translations/designations in a dogs title/pedigree . Your website was informative, you gave a brief, relevant history of your kennel and dogs, and what came through the most clearly is that you know and LOVE your animals. That unfortunately is not something that can be said for a lot of breeders - at least not in the sense that I use the word to describe how I feel about my pets - . I wish I lived closer to Texas! (I'm in Massachusetts) Thank you again for sharing information. J DOherty
Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to read the articles.

Fred and Alice,
Lex is now 4 months. We are all truly enjoying him. He is personality plus. ...He is housebroken, sleeps thru the night, loves our Sheltie, gets along with our cats, takes daily walks, knows sit and down, and learned how to swim in our pool. He loves water. His favorite
food is Solid Gold with Dan-Active Yogurt. We hope to get him into puppy socialization class and obedience.
Everyday he does something that makes us laugh. He is smart ,handsome, very expressive, with a keen sense of smell, and a HIGH food drive. Thank you so much for bringing him into our lives. Hopmann Family,
Mark,Patty,Nick,and Kaitlin

And a huge thank you to all of you for taking such good care of Lex during his puppy phase. You guys are obviously doing a great job with your training. Lex is an import puppy from Germany.

Hi,
I have a GSD which I purchased from Cynthia Tidmore about 2 years age. (Tidmore’s Rising Star Scarlet and Bobby Vom Stillen Rain.) What a Wonderful Dog! High intelligence, great disposition! He is the image of Bobby, A picture of Bobby and a picture of Bo could easily be confused . I have started him in obedience work and he just went through his first trial with a score of 191˝. He should have scored higher, but and hour before the trial I was run over by a golf cart driven by the show secretary. Sprained ankle, sprained knee and badly bruised. I could hardly walk! He had a tough time trying to keep heel position with my staggering. But He Did It!!
Just wanted to say Bobby produces fantastic offspring!
Thank you
Ray
Alamogordo , NM
Thank you Ray for your nice words about Bobby, and thanks to Cynthia for breeding her lovely Scarlet to our boy. I know Cynthia is proud to have you as an owner of one of her puppies.

More news from Tom and Crash...Crash and I went to the Lone Star Classic in Dallas this weekend. Crash got his third leg and earned his CD. In three days, we placed first on Saturday and Monday, and on Sunday, we got third place due to a huge error on my part. The judge...was very complimentary of Crash. A number of people wanted to know if I planned on showing him in conformation. Basically, Crash was a big hit. Hope all is well. Tom
We are so proud of Tom's accomplishments with Crash. Tom plans to go on with Crash's obedience titles, and we continue to look for outstanding performances from both of them.
MAY 15, 2006 I think y'all would be proud. Crash & I just got back from 2 days of competition at the obedience trials for all breeds which was hosted by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Houston. Crash got his first 2 legs of his CD title. Saturday we did pretty well and Crash qualified for his first leg of his CD tile, but I was bit disappointed. Crash took first place in Novice A and also scored the highest score for the day for any German Shepherd. But, we only scored a 191 1/2 and most of the errors were mine, not Crash's. Sunday was different (and better) story. Crash once again took first place in Novice A and once again had the highest score for the day for any German Shepherd. He also scored a 198 1/2 and took high in trial!! Not bad for a Novice A dog. (Kudos to my trainer Dean Miller who has worked tirelessly and patiently with Crash and me.) Crash was sharp! He is such a great dog. The judge commented that Crash was going to go far. Many people wanted to know if I was also going to show him in conformation. One woman who was a vet tech said that he is the best looking shepherd that she has seen in 20 years. (Who can argue with that?) Anyway, thanks again and I hope that next time I am in Austin we can get together. Tom

Congratulations to Tom who has done a fabulous job with Crash. Way to go boys. Crash was an import puppy and has matured into a handsome young male German Shepherd under Tom's excellent direction.

...How's my baby boy??? He is about 3 or 4 inches taller than Lady and half a foot longer...What a cutie....He hasn't had much time with me lately so at 3 a.m. one morning he decided it was time for some Mommy attention...he climbed on the bed and attacked my face with kisses and Lady woke and decided she needed some time in on this... needless to say they will get attention even if they must demand it...we cuddled and wrestled and cuddles some more before dawn...They are delightfully hilarious....Hoping all is well with you both.

We are proud of our articles, many of which are published elsewhere. Because these articles are an integral part of our dog philosophy, we will pass on some of the comments we receive.
Hi Alice,
I am in Las Vegas.
Last night I was at our training field with our Schutzhund club and three of us read your article (Schutzhund Myth),and they all thought it was great. And so true! by the way both were guys one a metro officer here in Vegas. I just thought I would let you know some feed back cause I had an argument with a woman 2 years ago about the same thing you talk about in your myth and she was so ignorant of so many facts in the "schutzhund Sport" that I left that night wondering if their was anyone out there who felt the way I did? Then a friend e-mailed me your web site and I thought that was finally what I had said for so long.
Any way I am passing on your article to people who need to really rethink some of the things "they think they know" and really look at it in a better way. Again, great article!
Best wishes,
B
MARCH 2006
Thank you... It's a wonderful article (Responsibilities of Being a Puppy Owner), as are many of the others on your website... I have used your web site many times as a resource for information... I found it searching for the definition of KKL I believe and found your GSD Glossary... I think the information in the article I mentioned would greatly benefit any new GSD owner and would love to give it out with our pups... I will indeed credit the web site and you... I am in Anchorage, Alaska by the way...
Thanks,
Josh W.

Isn't she beautiful? I just wanted to go ahead and give you an idea of what she looks like now. The other dog is her best buddy - they are always together.

Zack is the perfect companion and the smartest GSD we could ever ask for. He got 2nd place in Novice and only missed 1st by a half point. He is a great watch dog and is very social as well. Thank you for breeding such a wonderful GSD.
Dennis, Lillie and B Zack

Zack was bred by Cynthia Tidmore (Tidmore's Rising Star German Shepherds) who resides near the Tulsa, OK area. She bred her lovely Scarlet to our Bobby. Thanks Cynthia, Dennis and Lillie. And Congratulations on Zack's success.
OCTOBER 10, 2005
Was in Austin this past weekend - took Hedy with me to the Embassy Suites downtown - she did beautifully. Everybody made over her and petted her. She was tentative at first about the elevators, but soon got the hang of it. Think it was good to get her out and about. We took her everywhere with us. She is such a trooper - nothing bothers her - not all the kids running around whooping and hollering and picking her up and carrying her around and not all the hotel newness - just really stays calm. She is so wonderful.
She has the most incredible play drive - and she can keep up with the big dogs in the playfighting/running full speed around the yard barking and jumping on each other. Just really in the mix. Of course, I don't leave her with them unsupervised. But when we're all out in the yard, she really has a good time. Haven't had that before with any of the other dogs. I know I will have to do something with her - she just never runs down. And she's still a baby! Don't know if that will get more or less as she gets older. My guess is more.

Dear Fred and Alice, Just to let you know that Blitz is doing extremely well. Roy and I were just comparing to photos of the first day we had him (last Saturday) and really can't believe how much he's grown in 9 days! He and Mattie are having a blast playing together and are really developing a nice friendship (including regular taunting and chasing of one another! :-) ) We took him to the vet last week for his next check-up, and all is well. Can't wait for cooler days ahead with more time frolicking in the yard. Will keep you posted with regular photos and news. Thank you again, Suzi and Roy
Blitz von Stroman is a very handsome male from our Pulko x Betty breeding. Thanks Suzi and Roy for the update and the great pictures. Here is Blitz with his new friend Mattie. Mattie looks very pleased.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2005
Fred and Alice, Our name for her is Sophia, and she has been a wonderful girl. She is going through the mouthing/biting part of being a puppy. I realize this is good so we can teach her to be gentle. If her bite hurts a little we yelp like a puppy and stop giving her attention for a minute. We are also redirecting her to chew on her bones and other toys. My oldest daughter is doing very good with her...
We are doing a lot more socialization this week with her. We are taking her to our elementary school each morning so many kids are coming up and petting her along with adults. She is not afraid at all, and is lapping it up.
She is going to be a swimmer. We have had her in the pool a couple times and she has done very good. We make it a positive experience and quit there.
Sophia von Stroman is a beautiful female from the Pulko x Betty litter. Sounds like the whole family is doing a great job with this puppy...Thanks.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2005
Dear Alice and Fred, This is such a great guy!! He goes on walks with Gypsy and it's like he has known what a leash is and how to handle it, for a long time. He doesn't go to the bathroom in his crates or house...just in the yard like a house broken dog...He loves to hangout with Gypsy and follows her lead in our activities...He eats well and we've been putting bones in his mouth whenever he decides Gypsy or myself are meant to be his teething rings...
His paper name and the name I call him will be two different names...Kruger is easier for me...This pup is a Great Dog already!!!
Again Many Thanks, Reeni

Kruger von Stroman is from our Pulko x Betty breeding. Thanks again Reeni for keeping us posted and for the great loving home.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2005
Dear Fred and Alice,
... will try to get a pic out tonight late or tomorrow a.m. ...Puppy made it thru the nite sleeping all the nite:-)) This a.m. he and Gypsy are in close proximity to each other and it helps both of them...he hasn't cried out of loneliness but once since coming off plane...remarkable pup. expect pic soon....again many thanks Reeni
Thanks Reeni for providing a great home to male puppy from Pulko x Betty litter. Looking forward to the pictures and to watching him grow to a handsome majestic adult like his sire.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2005
HI Fred and Alice I just want to tell you how the puppy is doing. I named him Earnest after all the thinking I did for many days. I was thinking (of) so many names such as Braveheart, Noble, Austin, Silvy, or just leaving the name you had called him, but I had to give him a name I liked so I named him Earnest in memory of Earnest P Warrel who was a kind man who made a series of childrens movies... He is adorable I think he has one of the cutest faces I have ever seen. He is very playful sometimes, and then suddenly he gets tired and sleeps for a while. He doesn't eat a lot, but he does eat, and I try to keep water by his side almost all the time. He cries a tremendous amount at night I am very tired right now but I knew it would be this way I just hope he stops soon. I put a clock by him and his chew toys and some newspaper in case he has to go before I get to him. I love him very much and I can't wait until he quiets down from all his crying. I am teaching him how to come here when I say so so and I think he's starting to get it. I have his large breed food coming on Wednsday. I will keep you all updated on him. Thanks.
Matt

Hedy (I'm going to spell it like Hedy Lamarr - the beauty!) is just a great girl - smart and sweet and really stable - nothing bothers her - she is making friends with the other dogs and naps on Carson (my young male) - she probably misses her mom and siblings. She loves her tennis ball and rope toys though. We stopped on Thursday at Bark & Purr to pick up the Innova and I will continue to buy that for her - will probably just switch everyone over to it. I can hardly wait to see her grown up. Just had to let you know how happy I am with her - just love her! Leslie
Hedy von Stroman from our Pulko x Betty breeding. We also look forward to seeing Hedy grown. She is a gorgeous puppy. Thanks for the great home.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2005
Dear Fred and Alice,
Just a note to let you know that Helfden is doing very well at our
home. He had a fun day yesterday and was completely pooped after
sniffing around the house and garden. Mattie has taken to him like a
12-year old girl with a new baby. She just wants to sniff and lick
him, but we've been keeping him at a distance so he will feel safe.
If she comes too close, he lets her know with a growl and a bark
(that are too cute!) He already seems to be very happy in his little
crate, and we've put him a couple of chew toys that he likes a lot.
Last night I got up once to take him out, and we haven't had any
accidents so far! (fingers are crossed) Right now he's fast asleep
on the bathroom rug, and occasionally I hear barks and growls (and
legs twitching) as he enjoys his dreams.
We'll keep you posted with photos and updates as he settles in and
grows up.
Thank you so much. He is a perfect fit for us.
Suzi & Roy
Looking forward to new photos of sweet handsome Helfden von Stroman.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2005
Hautie had a good first 24 hours at our house. She is so content just to be hanging out with us. She loves the thick grass in our yard, and even went to the office this morning. She did cry some during the night, but was pretty easy to console. We still haven't given her a name, but that will come soon I hope. Her appetite is very good and she is playful! We are crazy about her! MK
Hautie von Stroman. Thanks MK for the great home. We look forward to pictures.

Dear Alice and Fred, I stumbled on your web site this morning and read the entire thing non-stop (except for taking the dogs out for a walk). When people ask me about how to start training their puppies/dogs, I always refer them to the Monks of New Skete books as a great place to start. I will also be recommending them to your web site. I am VERY impressed!!!! My husband and I are both retired military officers who decided to remain in Stuttgart after we retired from active duty in 1999. One of the driving factors for our decision is our love for working with German Shepherds. Like you, it is for us a "joyous hobby that we take very seriously."
Tchuss from Stuttgart, Kathleen and Brian
Normally, we do not post this type of letter, but we are very flattered by the nice comments of this very dog knowledgable couple who reside in Germany. We have worked hard to make our web site informative and educational and appreciate it when someone comments. Thanks Kathleen and Brian.

Smokey is handsome. His looks are what prompt people to stop and talk, then his personality wins their hearts. I have had people stop their vehicles to tell me what a gorgeous boy he is. I'll send pictures when I get my new digital camera, we lost access to the one we used to use when we left the other office.
See you soon
Terri
Smokey is a puppy we imported from Germany, and Terri is also getting a female puppy from our Pulko x Betty breeding, and no surprise...she will be called Bandit.
JULY 8, 2005 The picture is from NM where we spent the last month working on a guest ranch. Crash had soooo much fun. Here is one of him w/my horse. It was 45 degrees on the morning of July 4th when I got up to begin the drive back to Houston. Five hours later in West Texas it was 103.
It is hard to say who appreciated the cool weather more – myself or Crash., or who is more unhappy about the Houston weather.

Crash came to Texas as a puppy from Germany. Thank you Tom for providing such a wonderful home!!
JUNE 26, 2005 Hi,
We have a wonderful new addition to our family. It's a great time, because we are free to spend the necessary hours with Smokey for training and acclimation. He seems pretty at home now. He has learned quickly that the air conditioned dog room is the place to be outside in the middle of the day. We walk and play with him in the AM and PM. Mostly he hides in the middle of the day.
He's hesitant around the pool, because the first thing he did in our backyard was fall into it. I wish I had a movie camera, because Terri jumped in to "rescue" him. He looked like he was dog paddling just fine to me. We are doing great with heal, sit, down, stay, and drop. He likes to pick up the flower bed mulch and run, so we are working on leave it. Smokey is much more affectionate than our last dog. Buck developed that over time, Smokey already wants to cuddle when he first sees you. We are enrolled in puppy classes at Petco. We will probably be looking for other activities, as it seems he will be a high-energy dog. If you have any suggestions, let us know.
We'll be looking forward to another dog. Thanks for all your help with this one. Rick Wichita Falls, TX

MAY 23, 2005 Hi Alice and Fred --
Saturday we attended the GSD Specialty show here in Oklahoma City. Our B Zack received his CGC at 7 months old! He was absolutely awesome! B Zack was one of the youngest there and we received a lot of compliments on his demeanor and temperament. B Zack never growled or barked once -- and older, bigger ones did at him and he did NOT back away. Just looked at them like -- what did you do that for? This puppy is extremely intelligent! Cynthia was there too and she said he sure looks like his Daddy -- Bobby! The picture is the Tester, who was from Dallas, and Dennis and B Zack.
We have finished Puppy school, Beginners class started last week. Also, this week we start his training in Schutzhund. This wonderful puppy LOVES to work! Classes are every week, we start right after daybreak due to the heat. We do all three phases -- ending with obedience since it takes less energy and it is starting to get warm.
Thank you for your dedication to this breed! This puppy gives us much Joy!
Lillie and Dennis
Bobby son, Zack with Dennis on the right. Congratulations Dennis and Lillie, and what a fine job you are doing with this dog!!

MAY 1, 2005 This is a picture we wanted to share of agility dog Kizzy von Stroman doing tending style herding in the Dallas area. Below is a picture of Kizzy staying behind her boundary and moving those sheep back to their flock.
APRIL 22, 2005More good news about Bobby's son: Bobby's B Zack is doing great in school! He is the only one that already knows his commands. Dennis is working on the recall this week. We love this wonderful puppy -- well, he weighs 58 lbs now -- so I guess I need to quit calling him a puppy! He makes us very happy and we KNOW that he is too!

FEBRUARY 18, 2005
This is so funny. We were watching the Monk's of New Skete tape on heeling and Zack watched with us. Notice it is a GSD on the TV. He He.
Alice and Fred -- we read your article on Temperament -- great article! Let me tell you -- what our B Zack exhibited today -- in a strange place, around strange people making lots of noise, clapping, etc. -- he never lost concentration on his commands -- was smiling, proudly prancing, watching Dennis. They turned corners, did a turn-about, heeled fast, then slow. Dennis and I are again amazed at the genetics of Cynthia's Scarlett and your Bobby! Today was truly an exhibition of sound temperament. B Zack rode in the elevators -- showed no sign of fear -- his ears were up, tongue hanging out, smiling. He did sit and look up at Dennis -- as if saying, "What the heck is this?"
Formal schooling starts tonight! We know he will put on a SHOW and be an "example" the Instructor refers to! Dennis, Lillie and Zack

FEBRUARY 14, 2005 Took Crash to a B meet this weekend in Conroe. This was our first time in the ring and Crash got both his CGC and a 196 in pre-novice. It was good to get the first time experience under our belt and, more importantly, Crash has a great time, and everyone commented on how beautiful and well behaved Crash is. Crash is one of our import puppies. Tom has done a fantastic job with this young dog, and we are very proud of both of them.
JANUARY 10, 2005 I'm the owner of Mr Red one of the puppies from Cynthia (Scarlet x Bobby). All I've got to say is "Bo" is one awesome puppy. He is growing very fast, has one wonderful puppy disposition, and shows very high intelligence. He is presently enrolled in puppy play school, and puppy manners class. He is cautious but outgoing. Likes to view the situation (stays back for a few moments) then joins the activities with 110% energy. I've had GSDs before but never one with the disposition that Bo has. He is a wonderful puppy and I hope he will make his pappa proud!.

JUNE 1, 2004
We just came back from Amarillo where there was quite a bit of good competition in Kizzy's division (. We did AWESOME. We went 6/6 with 1-First, 3-Seconds and 2-thirds and 60 Championship points. Also finished up her MXJ title (needed 10 qualifying scores in Exc B), she has only NOT qualified in JWW a total of 3 times since we have been in Excellent, which is really well beyond the average Q rate.
That gives us a total of 5 DQ's and 102 points (need 20 DQ's and 750 points) towards her Championship. She is coming along better than I ever would have dreamed and she is such a joy to live and compete with.
I was just so excited and pleased with our performance I wanted to share.

Hello folks, this is to wish you a Merry Christmas and to reiterate to you (I must have said it before) how grateful I am for your efforts in bringing Janker von Deutschen Adel into my life, neighborhood, yard, home and (occasionally) bed. I'm always amazed how these dogs can nuzzle babies, tolerate nasty little yappers, herd and watch kids, want more pillows on the bed -- and then go out and do bite work. And it doesn't get any better than Janker.
There were these little problems. The first thing he did was run away. But the second thing he did was come back, if you recall, up the Lufthansa loading dock. But another time, when permitted, he took off at great risk. Back then, and for the next couple of months, he wasn't territorial, didn't bark and as I now realize wasn't doing his outside work at anywhere near his best. He also fouled the interior a couple of times. You gave me some useful advice at that time.
Well, that's all water long ago over the dam. Now he has completely settled in here. He "nimm"s the newspaper in the morning and "bring"s it in. In several sessions he has impressed the Schutzhund trainers with obedience and bite work. Plus the neighbors love him and he is accepted in all kinds of shops and restaurants. And in the cooler weather we have now he is exuberant.
So best wishes and great gratitude. Alexis Florida
Janker pictured below is a gorgeous SchH3 dog we imported for Alexis with the help of our good friend in Germany, Peter Woersdoerfer.

FYI, Crash is doing great! He is about 45 pounds and a very smart and energetic puppy. He is smart and absolutely beautiful. I have a roll of
film that will be developed next week and will send you some. Tom
Crash, Tom and friend came to visit us May 30, 2004, and this is one of the pictures we took. He is a handsome male with wonderful temperament! Congratulations to Tom who has done a wonderful job with this puppy. Crash is about a year old in this picture. Once again, Crash is a great dog we imported for Tom from Germany as an eight week old puppy.

HI GUYS LONG TIME. I MEAN TO CALL YOU ALL THE TIME , BUT TIME GOES FAST. BOSS IS NOW 7 YEARS OLD! HE IS THE BEST ALL AROUND DOG THAT ANYONE COULD ASK FOR AND HE IS BEAUTIFUL.

Hi Alice
This weekend is our 4th in a row we will be at Lubbock Fri-Sun.
In Denver Kizzy Q'd 5/6 runs with 4 Seconds and 1 First. Picking up her Novice Agility title in her first 3 times out. She started out with 3 straight scores of 100 and then 2 scores of 95. She did manage to back-jump a double in her last JWW class which resulted in a NQ, however her back-jump was an attempt on her part to compensate for running past it.
Since Denver Kizzy has gained a lot of confidence in the ring which is two-fold. First of all she is now running with a lot more speed than she has ever shown before, which is what will win once we get up to Excellent B level. Unfortunately I am unaccusomed to handling a dog with the speed which she is now showing me. Therefore we are remaining in the Novice level in order for us to gain a "team concept" which we are currently lacking, more on my part then on Kizzy's.
In her first McKinney weekend, she picked up another two standard legs with a Fourth place and another Second place and some really amazing speed.
Her second weekend in McKinney, she picked up her last NAJ leg (another title) and another standard leg with two Second places. The general rule of our training group is that you do not move up to the next level until you have 3-consecutive perfect scores of 100. Although Kizzy started off in Denver with 3-consecutive perfect scores of 100, they have been eluding us since.
The errors that we are making are some "green" dog errors and some handling errors. I feel confident that in time this will all come together and she will be a spectacular agility competitor. She has been handling Excellent level courses in training, however since she didn't have the speed the handling changes considerably.

Hi again!
It's kind of funny but "innova" is exactly what I bought for Kaiser about a week before we got him! He is in his crate by the bed (that's where he was whining a little the first night) but Jen said that he dind't whine at all the next night. I am unfortunately still in Ottawa - going to Tucson today - but I will be back tomorrow morning and I can't wait to see the little one again.

Anyway, Crash is great. He weighs about 33 lbs, both ears are erect, and he is gorgeous!! I have about 6 rolls of photos which have not been developed, but when they are, i will send you some copies. He is developing a small silver strap across his back just below his withers. He is looking less puppyish and more doggish every day. He is fearless, headstrong, smart, has great ball and prey drive, and basically is just a joy. He is going everywhere with me and is adjusting just fine. He loves people but also loves to assert himself.

Star pictured below...

"Star" took second place in the April-May 2003 basic obedience class at
Joyce Morgan's training center. We lost by 3 points to a Labordor
retriever and my mistake cost us 2 of those 3 points. Star was almost
6 months old when she started the classes and was imported from Germany
in Feb 2003 via Fred and Alice Stroman whom we owe yet another big
thanks. Star's sister Nicki lives in central Austin with her new
'dad'.

Dear Fred and Alice,
We named our new baby "Brawner." Brawner and Emmitt are getting along good. Emmitt sometimes gets a little rough. I keep telling him he will be sorry when Brawner gets grown. His ears are up really good and I think he will start teething real soon. Brawner is really smart. The first day with us he learned to open the back door. He also went for an accidental swim in the pool. He already knows his name and comes when called. Brawner is now 36lbs. We really love him. Thanks for getting him for us.

Hi Fred and Alice
I just wanted to give you an update on Yaro. He's now U-CDX Dion von Stroman, CDX, AXJ. I hope to add an AKC UDT by the end of the year. He's a real joy to me. Still a clown dog. A very nice working dog! People come to ringside to watch "that shepherd" in the ring. He has placed everytime he's been in the ring--all all-breed shows. (wrong- he NQ'd once at a Specialisty but his performance was so good, he was the only dog in the trial to get an applause!) I hope he does just as well in the Utility ring! We will be doing an obedience demo for the local T.V. station next week. I just got a male puppy...he turned out to be Yaro's puppie. Yaro is very good with him! Thank you for this wonderful dog.

Hi Alice:
Just wanted to touch base with you. Kizzy has settled down a lot over the
past few weeks and is such a joy to be around. She is so smart and I am
enjoying working with her.
I took her to her first High School Football game last week. She did great
meeting all the people. The kids rolling around on the grass playing ball
was more than she could handle (she wanted to join in!), so we tried to stay
away from them.
We are doing some serious work in agility and she loves it. I expect to
start competing with her next fall (I wanted to wait until after she was 2
to start jumping her at full height 24"). I have decided to wait with
obedience competition until she is older as well. I have had some trouble
with attitude with my other two shepherds which I contribute to my novice
handling, and Kizzy has such a great attitude I don't want to damper it with
obedience. We do the basic (sit, down, stay, stand, come) but it is all
fun.

Hi Fred and Alice
Once again I have to say how outstanding Star is at retrieving. I
would have to bet she is one of the best retrieving dogs ever at her
age, simply fantastic. It is rare where she will not bring the tennis
ball back within 3 feet of you and drop it - I didn't teach her this,
merely throwing or kicking the ball for her. Sometimes she'll run back
and stop near another tennis ball, she'll drop the one she had, sample
each and then pick up the one she started with and return it.
She is nearly 25 pounds now and is simply gorgeous. She got her parvo
booster yesterday and I'll start taking her out in public next weekend.
One of the vets in our vet office said she was simply stunning - her mom
is an AKC GS judge apparently.
I'm working with her to stay now and she has done fairly well. I
started on Thursday and today I got her to sit-stay for 10 secs before I
called her. She still doesn't do it all the time, but she is catching
on !! We also think she has figured out the correlation between door
handles and the door opening - that we'll have to keep an eye on (we
have the handicap type door handles which are easy to open).
We are tremendously pleased with her and she is a joy. Thanks, Jeff
Dear Alice and Fred,
Just wanted to let you know that Baron has the following OFA Report:
Hips: Good
Elbows: Normal
Dana & William
Baron von Stroman was over 5 years old when Dana and William had him x-rayed.
Hi,
My vet breeds Golden Retrievers and has been xraying hips for about 20 years
and has a good handle on good and bad hips, especially since there are so
many displastic Goldens. She said that she was quite surprised on how good
Leika's hips were (she doesn't usually get real good German lines as
clients). She isn't the OFA, but she said that they would range from a fair
to good in OFA and definitely would pass. I am not going to send them in
because she is spayed, this was just for me to be aware of her for health
reasons and I am relieved! Guess it gave my vet a little more confidence in
how conscientious and honest some GSD breeders can be!

Well we are really celebrating this afternoon, Chelsea passed her Canine Good Citizenship test!!! on the first try and she was the only one out of our class who passed. I'm so proud of her, she breezed through it. The trainers have been using her as the example dog, and in the testing as the dog who passes the one being tested, etc. By next year the Humane Society will have their agility, fly ball, and other activities set up and we can start that too. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful companion.

Madison is a big old lover!
When she is heeling she just stares up at you and prances while her tail wags
all over the place. I have her doing off lead heeling in the back yard and
she picked that up after one session.
All in all I would not trade her - she is my little girl.

This is a letter from the owner of a Dashel son. Aztec is doing Search and Rescue, and we are very proud of him!
Hey guys, I just thought that it was about time I gave an update. Aztec is now seven months old and he is showing me how great of a dog he is going to be. He is now an inch taller than Maya and weighs a whole 70 pounds! He is huge! He has a huge love for his toys and can't seem to get it out of his mouth when one is around. He is very smart and search training is going great! He really is taking to it. I finally got him to speak and man he does it all the time. He has got a great personality and sometimes can be a bit annoying, but its all good. He is still a pup even though he doesn't look like one anymore. He is turning more red and black than tan and black. I am glad because I think he is starting to look more like his Grandpa. I like the red look.

Hello Alice and Fred
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We have been doing well busy with work,
the kids and the dogs. Macho continues to amaze us everyday with his
intelligence, his warmness and gentleness with all the family and my kids
friends. By the way he is also very protective in the home. My kids have
their friends come over and he wants to be the center of attention. He is
approximately 90 pounds and looks very good. I will send you some pictures
soon of Macho. If you remember that my biggest worry was getting a dog that
was out of control. I wanted a dog that would protect the family but that
was also a member of my community and a member of the family. I could not
asked for a better dog. I sometimes believe he listens more to me than my
own kids.
Thank You.

Hello Fred and Alice,
How are you? Things are great here. I thought I'd send some pictures. I'll send some more with Mindy
and I but I wanted to get these to you first. Gwen is doing great, she cried for the first night and has
slept through every night since. she is just about potty trained and she is getting the handle on
sitting. She has met the whole family and fits in just great. She is great with the baby, our cats and
most of all my parents retriever, Glory. They play very well together, Glory is very patient. We keep
them seperated for periods of time, those teeth are too much, but they are becoming good friends.
We are very happy, she is fitting in just great. I'll write again soon with some more pictures..

Here is a picture I took yesterday of Kahlan sitting under the counter where I keep her food. She is just the
cutest darling. I think she will be excellent at agility - she runs and jumps over
everything. I am trying to restrict her from anything too strenuous and it is a full time job. Will keep you posted. Sue Boerne, Texas

Last night, somone tried to come in my front security door at 1:00 a.m. Chelsea became a lunging monster, a delight to see, and the intruder took his hand off the door knob, staggered back, yelling. Anyway, just wanted you to know, one more reason to thank you, and Chelsea.

I really love Leika and am very appreciative about all the information that
your provided up front. You selected the perfect puppy for me and my
family. Everyone is impressed and loves this dog. I don't think that I
could ever have two GSD's at the same time because they attach themselves to
you and my Collies are little more aloof, which allows you to open your
heart up for more than one dog. Leika has made Maxwell watch his p's and
q's and not be so independent. Cute and fluffy doesn't make it over
performance in my book.
Have a Happy New Year,

I just wanted to give you an update on my girl Madison. She is doing great, she
had to be the biggest lover out of the group. I am actually finding it hard to
believe she would actually protect the house as all she wants to do with
strangers is give them kisses and play. I am attaching some photo's of Maddy enjoying her
first snow.
I trust all is well and I will talk to you soon,
John.

Well, Ecko is doing great. He is a GREAT dog!!! And he is a BIG dog!!
Here are some new photos of Ecko. You canąt see it, but in #128 he is holding a rock in his
mouth.
I thought the coloring of the rocks was perfect!
These were taken in Moab, Utah on our recent vacation.--he did great. We love him!
Thanks,

Thought you would enjoy this picture of Dickens that I took the other day.
I am a little prejudice about how good looking the big boy is. He and I are
spending the summer up here in Colorado, and he is just loving it.

Congratulations on getting your puppies into
good homes and for all the wonderful progeny Quicki has produced! That is
terrific about the track record of good hips and temperment she has
produced! You'all have worked hard; you deserve to be proud.
Talk to you both again soon!

Just a few more pictures of Chelsea. Chelsea is a beautiful, happy, healthy dog. Thank
you again for such a wonderful dog. I couldn't be more in love with her, and feel I will
never again have anything so special in my life. We couldn't be more pleased and happy with
her. Frank says thanks for the "Wonder Dog".

Just thought I'd drop you a holiday note and a couple photos of Molly. She is doing well in
obedience although still too much puppy energy for some things! She's got a great nose, and
will be a good tracker someday. Just started on a light bite bar but shows tremendous
drive-had to get her a chest harness because she pulls so much going into the helper. Hope
you enjoy the pictures.

I want to thank you for giving us the best German Shepherd we've ever had. Starr's a
wunderhund in every way-super-intelligent, loyal, sensitive and protective. I hope you
continue to breed shepherds for many more years, because you'll be the first one on my list
when I want another puppy. He's 2 years old now and the spitting image of Quicki. The only
problem with Starr is that he thinks he's human. He "owns" the sofa and knows English a
little too well. We spell a lot of words around him.

Deacon thinks that he is a poodle (just lives in a GSD body), he likes
to cuddle and lay in my lap, the only problem is - all that fits is his
shoulders, so he is just draped over both sides and just goes totally
limp. He has total trust in his mom, that I won't let him fall off. He
is so big that it is really a Kodak moment (he weighs 90 and I weight
110 lbs) but no one else is ever around to take the
picture. He does weigh 90 lbs and it is not fat, really on the slim
side. Carolyn, Sentry K-9

Dear Alice and Fred,
My vet gave your phone number to a client who just lost their German
Shepherd. He said Chelsea was the best GSD he'd ever had in his practice.
Chelsea went to the dentist with me last week. My dentist is an itty
bitty man who has been scared of GSD's in the past, but loves Chelsea. He
let me bring her into the office (didn't want to leave her in the car), and
she greeted patients, watched the procedures on me with her head on Dr. G's
knee, and then sat in the corner and watched quietly the rest of the time.
Dr. G said "She's an Angel!".
Thanks again, Wendy
