V-1 Quintana (Quicki) vom Steigerhof, SchH3, WH, KKL1-lbz, "a" normal
November 30, 1992 - July 3, 2007
Quicki was the bravest and most courageous dog I've ever known. I always referred to her as "one tough mother."
My friend, Peter Woersdoerfer, imported her for me from Germany when she was 2 years of age with a SchH1. She had 99 in tracking, so I was surprised when I took her to track, and she thought it was all done after the first article. She and I had some discussions about this, and it culminated in me on my hands and knees for what seemed like 15 miles making sure she finished her track on the dirt. After that adventure, she only challenged a few more times.
Let me tell you about prey drive! Better not drop anything and try to pick it up when Quicki was around. Your hand would be in her mouth. It was astounding how quick she was, and we figured the name suited her well.
And there was her wonderful performance in the 1996 USA Sieger Show where she placed V-6. Her protection work was quite strong, and she thought she would demonstrate first with the protection judge. As he waved his clipboard telling the helper to come out of the blind for the attack, she thought that was her signal to launch---at the judge. Thankfully, expert decoy Robert Britt's quick thinking redirected her to the guy with the sleeve.
Completing her SchH3 with a painful bone injury to her hock made me realize what a special, nobel and certainly headstrong and brave creature she was. After completing a very difficult track, she started off great in obedience. But, her meter jump was mistimed, and she hit her rear legs hard as she tried to clear the jump. We debated whether to do protection, but she wanted it. For those uninformed of her injury, she probably just looked like another average dog running the blinds. She was half speed, and she couldn't launch very well for the bite because of the pain. But she made it, and when she got sticked, she clamped down harder showing what she was made of...
Quicki compounded her injuries by hitting a car. Yes, she hit a neighbor's car making a large dent. Quicki had to smile a little when the lady left her damaged car, forgetting to put it in park. The car rolled down the hill hitting her other car parked at the curb.
And the puppies!!! She blessed us with 6 beautiful litters. She was such a wonderful, loving and no nonsense mother. She gave me my Camey, and we have Desta and Dashel. And she has brightened so many homes with her puppies...brought so many smiles.
So many sweet memories... Thank you Quicki. Thank you for everything.

SG Troy von Zwart, SchH3, CDOwner trained and handled!
May 30, 1994-November 5, 2005 A courageous dog...he met adversity with strength.

Troy was out of very strong working lines. Fred got Troy as an 8 week old puppy, and they joined the Schutzhund 3 Club together. Fred also took him to the AKC obedience ring earning his CD title with 3 first places. He was Fred's first dog to formally train in Schutzhund and AKC. But ultimately it is not about the titles. It's about the dog and his bond with us. Through shear strengh of character, Troy overcame several physical hardships and earned our profound admiration and respect. We miss you Troy...

Hasso vom Zwarthaus SchH3, FH, IPO3, WH, CDX, HIC, KKL2-lbz, OFA Good 3 x USA National Qualifier 2 x USA National Participant
Owner trained and handled!
November 22, 1990 - September 20, 2004 Always a gentleman...
Hasso at 11 1/2 years old. Above photo taken 5/31/02.
Hasso was an extremely serious dog on the Schutzhund field, but off the field, he was remarkably willing, loving and affectionate. He was entirely owner trained and shown. He was always the joy of our household. Hasso was many times SchH3. He earned his SchH3 with a 287 performance (100-91-96), his IPO with a 290 (100-94-96) and his FH with a 99!! He qualified for USA Nationals in three successive years and went on to compete there in 1995 and 96. He also competed at the WDA World Qualifier. He was also successful in the AKC obedience ring. He finished his CD and CDX with average scores of 190+, and in addition to receiving High-in Trials at German Shepherd specialty shows, he also placed at all-breed competitions! My dear Hasso, I hope you are chasing after cats, red trucks and helpers... You are never far away from my thoughts.

Camey von Stroman, SchH3, CD, (2 legs towards her CDX) OFA GoodOwner bred, trained and handled! 09/15/97-12/29/02
Our sweet Camey was taken from us in the prime of her life. Camey earned her SchH3 about a month before she died. She did it in style earning 90 points in protection with a really strong performance on a new field. She was so beautiful running the blinds! She was a terrific obedience dog and loved to work. Only for her it was all play because her obedience had been taught with praise, ball and food. She would heel down the field looking straight up at me with what looked like a big smile on her face. And she carried that attitude into the AKC obedience ring. She had also just earned the 2nd leg on her CDX with a 2nd place in an all-breed Open A class. There was so much left for us to do...so many trials...so many obedience rings. But it was not meant to be. Camey had the biggest heart in the world and courage to match. We miss you.
