Light Weight Coal Forge

This light weight forge in the photo at right was created to make transportation to remote demo locations easier. It can be easily disassembled into a few easy to carry parts, shown below. The legs are square tube held into larger square tube with t-shaped bolts. The Champion blower is attached at a slight angle to allow cranking near the frame, with two nuts attached to welded-on bolts. A light firepot is constructed with 1/4" plate, bolted onto a Champion tweyre. 16 gauge sheetmetal surrounds the firepot and is bolted onto the angle iron frame. An optional machinist vise is attached for light-weight work. The vise frame is held in place by pins welded to the frame. Hitch pins secure the base, making for easy removal (See below). The lower shelf is also 16 gauge sheet. It strengthens the frame and may hold a toolbox or heavier tools for better stability of the forge.
The light duty vise is shown attached to welded on pins. This creates a strong base facilitating fast removal, unlike time consuming bolted attachment methods. The pins also do not catch dirt from the forge. The firepot has one bolt attaching to the sheet metal table and also held onto the frame with clips.
Shown at right is the disassembled forge, including leg attachments and the bottom of the firepot. A handle is planned for carrying the forge table and straps will secure the legs when transporting. A wind screen near the blower will be attached with hitch pins. All parts are designed to lay flat when transporting.
