 h Texas Blacksmiths Association is an ABANA chapter formed to help spread the knowledge of the blacksmithing craft. The organization is located in the North Central Texas area, although people from all areas are welcomed to join. Membership fee is $15. Scheduled to demonstrate are David Lowry, who will forge an Horseshoe Snake and Jim White, planning to forge a Rasp Snake. Directions - from North Main Street in Fort Worth, turn East on E. Exchange Ave. Then turn right, South next to the Stockyards, turn left, East behind the Stockyards. Park on the South side of the stockyards and look for the Livery Stable, where Terry's shop is located. You may also park on the East side of the railroad track, but it is a longer walk to the Livery Stable. Do not park between the Hotel and Livery Stable. September 13-14 - NTBA Hammerfest with Gordon Williams. See the Registration Brochure. Gordon is planning to demonstrate numerous Texana style items His description - "Forged indian arrow with copper wrap, three type of leaves, grape, rose and yucca. These are done mostly to show some different tooling I use. An organic element, cactus in nature, my daisy duke flower. Vine texture swage, a tool to texture the welds in, wood grain tool and hammer texture tool. A quick way to make eyeball tools and rivet sets. Different wrinkle on a steer head, cowboy head, two horseheads, a snake using a special tool, and edge designs. Monthly meetings are located at members shops and other locations such as farm museums in the North central Texas area. Meeting topics and directions are in the club newsletter. Hours are normally from 9 am until 3 pm, however, multi-day events such as IronFest, Hammerfest and Dancing Hammers are weekdays 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday 9 am - noon.
