ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I appreciate the help I have received in compiling the Widrig Geneology from
the following people:
-
First and foremost to Bill Harbold (whose mother was a Widrig) who put together
one of the most complete and earliest lists I received and traced our ancestors
back to Germany. Still haven't figured out where he is on the family tree.
I have resent the information to him in Illinois and asked him to review
it. He is related to Paul Widrig (see below) and is Paul's sister's son.
-
John Alger Widrig (1896-1975), my grandfather, who put together a list which
traced lineages back to Philo (1821-1896) and Sally. It was updated by my
father, Richard Donald Widrig (b. 1/5/1930) before it was passed on to me.
Apparently, this tree, on an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet of paper has been passed
around to many Widrig's and is part of many of our ancestoral files.
-
Jerome Widrig- who contacted me in the 1980's and gave me a little info on
his direct descendents. Believe he is now listed correctly on the tree. He
was compiling an in-depth list in 1982. I have sent the information to him
in Florida and have asked him to review it.
-
Marlene Widrig Bickle, who contacted me in 1993 and I sent a copy of my computer
geneology program to. She still must be working on gathering her side, as
I have not heard from her. She is related to the Bert Widrig's who have been
very helpful.
-
William Eugene Widrig (1939)- who provided me with very valuable information
about his family and grandfather.
-
Cosie Widrig Allen (1955) and her sister Linda Lee Widrig who provided
me with several pieces of information about their family and Jean Arnold,
their mom, who provided me with the information which tied their branch into
George (1787) and filled in several dozen more members on the tree. Also,
they have written several Family Stories.
-
Carol Widrig (1928) wrote a great letter to Cosie Widrig (1955), which Cosie
passed on to me. The letter describes Chas O. Widrig (1870) and his family
and provides a number of birth and death dates listed on my grandfather's
tree. Excerpts from the letter are found under the person she describes.
-
Grace Marie Carothers (1903), my grandmother, has also filled in a number
of gaps in her husband John Alger Widrig's (1896) family.
-
Dean R. Widrig of Fullerton, CA provided me with his gedcom file, 106 names
and a link to his branch of the tree. He also provided me with excerpts from
a book that had lots of early Widrig history in the Herkimer, NY area. I
have summarized that in my Early Widrig History link on the Widrig Home Page.
-
Carole Widrig of Eagle Pointe, OR has put me in touch with Rodney and Martha
Widrig of Del Rio, TX. Martha provided me with her research which added 144
names to the tree, but unfortunately has not linked her family to the tree
as yet. Her oldest relative is John J. Widrig from Pennsylvania and it appears,
from my research, that Michael and Magdalena had 4 children in PA from 1751
to 1760.
-
Paul A. Widrig of Carson, CA (His picture appeared in the Los Angeles Times
many years ago in connection with a promotion he'd received- I called and
congratulated him). He added 35 new names to the tree.
-
Lynn A. White- researched New York Widrig's and provided 233 new names to
the tree, He documented his sources very well.
-
Bernie Hornung contacted me and was researching the Martha Card line. He
provided several new names and marriages.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU
FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THIS PROJECT
