Something's
in the lake, my dear.
Is
it a snake or a gondolier?
It
has Glittering scales
And
no sign of sails,
But
my view is obscured and not clear.
Sylvie calls from the lake, dear Mum
Entreats me, begs me to come.
With her beckoning eyes
And her pleading sighs
To embrace me as playmate and chum!
Her mysterious, magical powers
Will delight you for hours and hours.
I remember her call
From when I was small.
On her head a garland of flowers.
May I go and meet her then?
Into the land of Pretend,
Where Sylvie waits
By the Heron Gates*
To welcome me through as her friend?
Yes, go to the lake, dear child
You'll be played with, amused and beguiled
She'll sing you a song
And if I'm not wrong,
Play games rambunctious and wild!
*The Heron Gates are located at the entrance to the Los Angeles river walk in Silver Lake.

You'll notice the similarity between Sylvie the Silver Lake Monster and Nessie the Lochness Monster.
Most observers agree that Sylvie and the famous Scottish creature share a similar genetic, evolutionary background.
Although Sylvie is diminutive by comparison she definitely fits Nessie’s description in most other ways.
