DAGMAR'S LATEST NEWS and CURRENT PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS:

These days I am digging through hundreds of photos in my archives,
selecting some that would fit perfectly into
"70s STYLE",
a book in the works by Dominic Lutyens and Kirsty Hislop,
to be published in England - SOON!

Unearthing all sorts of treasures from One-Hit Wonders like Samantha Sang
(remember her "Emotion" with the Bee Gees??)
and SHIRLEY & Company -
her "Shame Shame Shame", a song at the beginnings of disco,
still amazingly fabulous -
to the "Boy Bands" VIRGIN in LA
and SLIK, whom I photographed in Glasgow...
and so may others I had the privilege to meet at the beginnings of their careers
from ELTON JOHN to BOWIE, ROD STEWART to the WHO and LED ZEPPELIN
and all those others that made the 70s a truly exciting time to witness...

I am really thinking I HAVE to do "MY 70s - by Dagmar",
before I forget all the stories accompanying those photo documents of a very special era.

I AM WORKING ON IT!!!

SOME OTHER RECENT AND ONGOING PROJECTS:

ALWAYS taking pictures of ART, when it presents itself,
even in the most unlikely places,

like the wonderful natural hay roll "sculpture" we found in Umbria, Italy,
which even FELT good! (Anton took this photo of me)

an Italian hayroll

and of "my" wild ANIMALS, as they come by and never cease to surprise and delight us.

Angela and bull mural

OK, you caught me in a fib, this one's actually a mural in Tucson!
I took my friend Angela there, when she visited from Los Angeles...

But these are real and live:

Javelina mom and twins

a Javelina (Mexican wild pig) mom with her twins born in April 2005.
They're just crossing our driveway.

I found that my new wildlife images that often involve direct eye contact are truly thrilling
in ways the "wild life" in Manhattan was not - although I loved that part of my life too!

bobcat on our roof

This is a bobcat, a kind of lynx, living in Arizona, and often ambling through our property.
He thinks the roof of our (purple) house is a nice safe spot.
He can climb up easily via the mesquite tree seen in the foreground.

Last year we had a Mom with three cubs up there!

Soon there will be a link from here to a separate page of my wild critter pix!

...which reminds me of an anonymous quote:
"Until one has loved an animal,
part of the soul remains unawakened."

(BTW for my great collection of favorite quotes check out my opening page.)

Meanwhile... here's something interesting and different to get involved in:

cactus and new leaf

NEW LEAF

an interactive art and photo project by Carol Ann Newsome, that I'm participating in. Go have a look!

and since this April will be the 40th Anniversary
of the Premiere of HAIR on Broadway
here's a look not too far back
to a VERY MEMORABLE PROJECT:

"HAIR HAIR HAIR"

an exhibit of my photos of the original casts of "The Tribal Love-Rock Musical HAIR"
taken Off Broadway in its original version at Joe Papp's Shakespeare Festival in 1967
and in and around the Biltmore Theater ON Broadway in 1968.
(If you have time, take a little sidetrip to see some of them
in the pages of the Original HAIR Program!)

The exhibit opened the day of the Première, March 10th, 2001,
and was on view until June 30th, 2002,
in the Foyer of the Raimundtheater, in Vienna, Austria.
Thank you all for so much positive FEEDBACK!

The Viennese incarnation of HAIR was a brand new production of the musical,
headed by Rudi Klausnitzer of Vereinigte Bühnen Wien,
brought into the 21st century by surviving author James Rado
and American Director/Choreographer Kim Duddy.

Both Jim Rado and composer Galt MacDermot flew in for the Show's Opening Night!

Here we are at the Opening Celebration:
Rudi Klausnitzer, Jim Rado, Dagmar, Galt MacDermot and a guest
with one of my photos behind us on the wall!
(Photo by Conny; see more of his images taken in and around Vienna
at http://www.conny.at)

"VH1 BEHIND THE MUSIC: HAIR"
premiered on MTV, August 26th, 2001 - watch for REPEAT PERFORMANCES! -
also featuring Dagmar's black and white photos of the original casts
onstage and backstage, at Joe Papp's and on Broadway.

Just get in touch with me, and we'll talk about it!

Copying my pictures from the web and from books to sell them on eBay
is DEFINITELY NOT AN OPTION!!
Seller "epshotz" and friends, take heed!!
And to those tempted to bid on these stolen prints,
I can only say that their quality is nowhere near what it should be.
They are crummy rip-off reprints. Don't waste your money.
