Hill of The Cross

(Butte d’la Croix)

From a burning desire to be free

A few Acadian men, after years of wander

And no longer being driven to flee

In seventeen hundred and sixty-seven

On a hill by the Tusket River

Found a place to be independent

And planted a cross in the earth

Offered a Mass to our Lord

And this act, was Wedgeport’s birth
