"Rayna"

In July, 2004 Cheryl Smith, her husband and I went to Cataway Shelties, Patty and George Page, to look at a litter for a blue male for Cheryl. But there was a cute little tri bitch that just caught my eye. She had outline and presence and I just could not resist her, hence her registered name "On a Whim". Her call name is a name from the original Star Trek series, where Kirk fell madly in love with a beautiful android named Rayna. I have been waiting for the perfect dog to have this name since the 1980's. I have since found out that this pronounced in Spanish means "Queen". However, I still prefer to call her the Prin-Cess, as she diffidently rules everyone here. I just adore this dog, and my mother thinks she is pretty cute too.
My dogs and I took
a very long trip out east in March 2007. Then we headed to Kentuckiana
SSC where little Miss Rayna was WB, then went on to BOB over 7 specials.
Needless to say, I am still excited about this win. A very big thank you
to judge Kim Schive.
After winning several
major RWB’s Rayna went out with Linda Guihen to win 10 points and 2 more
majors in three weekends. This win pictured to finish her was under noted
Doberman judge Evie Sullivan for Rayna’s third major.

winning fourth place in the regular classes at the ASSA in 2005 with Therese
Walters handling and judge Nioma Coen. She also placed third in Futurity
with myself handling and judge Kim Shrive. This was Rayna's very
first AKC show, and Patty, Judy Kelsey (her sire's owner) and myself where
just jumping up and down for joy. It was especially nice that they
were also there to see her win. Pictured at 11 months.

Rayna, in January 2005 at the Mid-Winter Spartan Match. She won the herding group puppy, and was pulled to place third in Best Puppy in Match over about 300 entries.
