Sorry, we have no puppies at this time. We are not planning any litters for 2008.

We will not be breeding puppies in the near future. Also, due to the value of the Euro against the dollar, we will not be importing puppies from Germany unless you have a request for very specific bloodlines.

SOME ADVICE: There are many good breeders in this country, but we suggest you do your homework. Start by reading the articles below and acquainting yourself with the terminology. You may call us, but we will not generally give you referrals to specific breeders. We will, however, be happy to discuss bloodlines and terminology with you.

Do not be afraid to seek out the best puppy even if it means you either have to drive considerable distances to see the litter, or the breeders must transport the puppy to you by air. And finally, the good breeders are in the best position to select a puppy for your needs. Many will send videos, so trust their judgment. A good breeder will know the puppies at 8 weeks of age better than you.

Do not look for puppies by size or even by color. A good breeder will comply with the world standards for German Shepherds, so the adult dog will likely fall within very specific size perameters. You might have a color preference, but do not let this be one of your primary criteria.

If you are deciding on a puppy from a litter not bred to the world standards, make sure the sire and dam of the litter have hips either certified by OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) , "a" stamped by the SV in Germany or have hip certification by some other recognized certification entity.

While prices can vary considerably throughout the country, expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500 (or more) for a quality puppy. Yes, you can find puppies for less, especially from a breeder who has slightly older puppies and wants to clear their kennel. Also, you can get a less expensive puppy if they are not bred to the world standard, meaning sire and dam are not titled and/or not breed surveyed. Just understand what you are purchasing. A puppy is not a computer or kitchen appliance. It's a living, loving and very intelligent creature that may have some issues. You need to understand this up front and be willing to deal with a less than "perfect" dog if that should be your situation. And purchase price is the least expensive part of dog ownership. Just one visit to the vet can be very costly.

If the cost I mention above is prohibitive, please consider getting a dog from either the Humane Society in your area or from German Shepherd Rescue.

Good luck in your search for a puppy!!
