Singer Model 48 K

The model 48K was manufactured in Singer's plant at Kilbowie, on Clydebank near Glasgow, Scotland. This particular machine has a manufacturing date ca. 1908-1909. The 48K was never manufactured in the US and is seldom found in this country, except as recent imports.

The decals and paint on this machine are particularly nice, but the wooden bell shaped cover is missing. I received a substitute cover when I bought the machine but it is not really suitable. It would be wonderful if I could just find one of the proper tops, but it is an odd size, and the chances are, to quote a country western song, "like a lost and found in a border town, looking for a diamond ring" (ã Kix Brooks/Don Cook).
