Xue Jian

Xue Jian's pieces are in the calligraphic style of Yan Zhenqing (顏 真 卿) who lived in the Tang Dynasty (709-785 CE). The brush strokes of this style have a strong, sinewy quality and a very powerful framework. While the characters are bold, done with a wet, fully-loaded brush, each one still has space in which to breathe producing a composition of overall harmony.
