This is an example of 2" Select, tongue and groove. It was finished with an oil based sealer, and polyurethane top coat. 2" strip flooring is perfect for smaller areas.

Shown above is a freshly finished 2" Select T & G, with a water-based polyurethane. Using a water-based product will turn the mesquite more brown than red. This floor was run all the way through the kitchen, dining , and living room.

This is a sample of 3" Rustic , tongue and groove with black epoxy fill. It has just been sanded and is waiting for the finish to be applied. Your floor will be light colored after sanding, but after an oil-based product is applied, it will darken to a rich red/brown color. Sunlight is what darkens mesquite, very much like cherry.

Mesquite is a perfect accent to lighter colored woods. The homeowner combined maple flooring with mesquite trim for a dramatic effect.
