Don Edmund Nicholes

Don Edmund Nicholes,
72, passed away in Butner, North Carolina on Sunday, February 5th, 2006.
He was born on December 5th, 1933 in Houston, Texas.
Don served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 22 years of faithful service.
After serving in the military, he worked as an engineer with the railroad.
Don thoroughly enjoyed both his time in the military, and his career with the railroad,
because they enabled him to travel and see the world.
No matter what city or country he was in, Don always seemed to run into someone he knew.
Later in his life he moved to West Texas where he owned a hunting ranch.
At one point Don was also a "gunslinger" in a Wild West Show.
He also loved animals and had a multitude of dogs and cats throughout his years.
Don was preceded in death by his son Douglas Nicholes, parents George and Lillie Nicholes, sisters Iona Hogg and Thelma Finch, and brother Allen Nicholes.
He is survived by his wife Cherie Nicholes; his first wife Melba Nicholes; one daughter; brother Melvin Nicholes & wife Barbara; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 13th, 2006, at 12:00 P.M. in the VA Chapel
at the Houston National
Cemetery with Reverend Charles Akins officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by
the V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail.
A kind and loving husband, father, brother, and friend, Don will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
