Gladys Ethel Jones, 72, of Houston Texas died December 30th, 2006. Born October 31, 1934 in Detroit Michigan, Gladys was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Wright, both deceased.
She was a hairdresser for many years, owning and operating her own business for many years in Michigan. Gladys also worked as a store clerk, waitress, and caregiver for the elderly. She also helped rear many of her younger siblings after her father’s death at a young age. Gladys had lived most of her life in the Thumb area of Michigan, then retired to Florida in the early 80’s, and had been a resident of the Houston area since 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Wright of Cass City Michigan, brothers James, Richard, Robert, John, and sisters Laura, and Darlene. She is survived by daughter Gail Brown of Hawkins Texas, son Charles Mills of Oakland Maryland, 3 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. Brothers Charles Wright of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Dalbert Wright of Cass City, Michigan Phillip Wright of Alaska, sisters, Sharon Guinther of Caro Michigan, Kathy McPhail of Cass City Michigan and Carol of Kentucky. Gladys is also survived by her extended family and caregivers Mario & Lupe Herrera of Houston Texas
At her request, Gladys' body was cremated, and her remains are to be spread in the Gulf of Mexico. Gladys will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
