HAROLD J. LEGER, Jr.,
53, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at his residence at 138 Groton Ave. Cortland,
NY, after losing the battle with a progressing long term illness. Born in Spotsylvania,
VA, he was a son of the late Harold J. Leger, Sr. and Rose Chewning Leger. He was raised
and educated in Vidor, Texas and served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from
1969 to 1973. After residing in Texas for many years he relocated to Cortland in 1994.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s football fan and enjoyed spending time with his son whom
he loved dearly.
He is survived by his son, Harold J. Leger, III of Dryden, NY; his former wife,
Luanne Overbaugh Leger of Dryden, NY; his siblings, Alan (Bobbie Jean) Leger of Spurger,
TX, Michael (Marlene) Leger of Vidor, TX, Nikki (Dwight) Price of Vidor, TX, Joy (Randy)
Lackey of Brazoria, TX, and Gary Leger of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held in Dryden, New York on Monday, February 6th, 2006. Interment
was at the Houston
National Cemetery with a Memorial Service on Friday, February 10th, 2006, at 11:30 A.M.
with Military Honors rendered by the V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail.
Hal will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
