James Michael Caton, 57, passed away in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, June 7th, 2006. He was born on November 24th, 1948 in Greeneville, Tennessee to Erma Ruth Giffen and Raymond Lewis Caton. Mike grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas and moved to Houston in the late 70's. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge after serving two tours of duty.
Mike's passions were his family and friends, playing golf, pool, and his work. Known for the stories he could tell, Mike had an infectious laugh and always managed to be the center of attention – probably because he was such a joy to be around. He loved to cook and, even after he got sick, turned family holidays into special feasts. Throughout his illness, Mike derived special joy from his son's baseball team, the "Spring-Klein Rebels".
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Ruth Rinehart, both grandparents, and his father-in-law Emil Mikulin. He is survived by his wife Kathy Caton of Texas; son Sean Michael Caton of Texas; daughter Kelli Rae Caton of Texas; sister Kelly Ann Rinehart of Washington; mother-in-law Billie Jo Mikulin of Texas; brother-in-law Patrick Mikulin of Texas; brother-in-law Michael Mikulin & wife Shelley of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends who were "family"; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 12th, 2006, at Spring Woods United Methodist Church located at 1711 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77090, phone 281-444-6468 with Dr. Bill Gandin officiating.
A special college fund has been established for Mike's two children and donations in his memory should be made directly to Chase Bank, Account #722140787.
