God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be,
so He put His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away,
and though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, a precious soul at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
Maria Elena Cortez,
45, passed away in Houston, Texas on Thursday, April 6th, 2006.
She was born on September 12th, 1960 in San Benito, Texas to Benita Alvarez and Macario Cortez.
Maria was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by her sister Sanjuana Cortez of
Salem, New Jersey; aunt Martha Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; 2 uncles: Domingo Cortez of
San Benito, Texas and José Cortez of Pearland, Texas; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was on Saturday, April 8th, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
at Aldine Funeral
Chapel.
Maria will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially Javier II, Adalberto II,
Richard II, David, Desiree, Alexandra, Bianca, Tyler, Gilbert III, Adrian, Brianna, Yulissa, and
Erik, who all lovingly called her "Nena".
