Nancy Jane Chancey, passed away September 11th, 2006 at home peacefully in her sleep. She was 71. Nancy was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on February 24th, 1935.

She met Richard Chancey, her husband of 48 years, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and Richard were married on December 20th, 1958 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. From Tulsa, Nancy moved to San Francisco, California where she and Richard started and raised their family. Prior to starting her family and becoming a homemaker, Nancy worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Company. They resided in California until 1981, when the family moved to Houston.

Nancy's community activities included membership and holding office in the Humanists of Houston and Toastmasters. She was also active in the Art After School program (now known as City Wide Art). She was an avid reader who particularly loved James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small.

Nancy was preceded in death by her son Alan Chancey, and by her parents Hazel and Phillip Evington, and her brother "Boach" Estes. She is survived by her husband Richard; her two sons Bruce and Aaron; Aaron's wife Wendy and their children Lauren and Heather; Bruce's fiancée Anne; Nancy's sister Janice; brother John; nephew Maurice; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006, from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Unitarian Fellowship of Houston located at 1504 Wirt Road in Houston, Texas, phone number 713-686-5876.

Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt; and she leaves many loving friends and family. All who knew Nancy will miss her wit and sense of humor.
