"A virtuous wife gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day's work ... she is energetic and strong, a hard worker; she is clothed with strength and dignity; her words are wise; a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised ..."
Proverbs 31

RUTH ALZENE CAMPBELL SIMPSON, of Houston, Texas, departed this earth peacefully on February 16th, 2006 after a brief illness with congestive heart failure. She is now with our Lord and Savior, our daddy Tom Durwood Simpson (November 26, 1999), and our brother Dan Simpson (July 13, 2004). After daddy & Dan left us, mom had emptiness in her heart that could not be filled. Now they are together.

Ruth was the first born to John Keathly Campbell and Willie Lewallen Campbell on September 23, 1921 in Troy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers: James K. Campbell, a World War II veteran and survivor of a German prison camp, and J.W. Campbell. Ruth is survived by her 2 sisters: Ann Campbell Vasquez & husband Joe of Midland, Texas and Jane Calvert Nemecheck of California; 2 brothers: Eddie Ray Campbell & wife Catherine of Searcy, Arkansas and Bobby Campbell & wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, Texas; 3 sisters-in-law: Lou Ella Simpson MacLean, Flora Simpson and Jeannie Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom will be missed greatly by her family: Jon Randy Simpson & wife Cindi, Darla Kaye Simpson Oakes & husband Milton; daughters-in law Connie Gordon Simpson and Carolyn Simpson Choate; and most of all by her grandchildren: Kimberly Oakes Gasaway & husband Blake, Tod Allen Oakes, Angie Elizabeth Oakes McLaughlin & husband Patrick, Thomas Daniel (Danny) Simpson, III, and Clifford Scott Simpson. She leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Derek Anthony Oakes, Thomas Connor & Hannah Victoria Gasaway, and her most recent, Ryan Patrick McLaughlin.

Ruth was a woman of strength, a beautiful seamstress, and a wonderful cook. She loved our daddy greatly. She was also a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, living for her family and will be missed by all.

A private family gravesite memorial service was held at the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
