T. Leo Dawsey, Jr., 81, went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 11th, 2006. He was born on January 22nd, 1925 in Mobile, Alabama to Leo and Mary "Mamie" (Meyer) Dawsey. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was promoted to lieutenant and pilot of a B-17 at age 20. After the war he studied architecture at Auburn University, where he met and married Helen Hogue Pollard.

A very talented architect, he was struck down with a severe case of Guillian-Baret Syndrome, which left him a quadriplegic in 1974 at age 49. For 32 years he amazed people by continuing to run his architectural firm despite severe disabilities. He worked full-time until a few weeks before his death.

Leo is survived by Helen Dawsey, his wife of 54 years; his son Tom Dawsey and wife Diane; his daughter Sally Davis and husband Michael; his daughter Kim Hunter and husband Rick; 7 grandsons (Andrew, Thomas, Shawn, Collin, Cole, Mark, and Tyler); 1 granddaughter (Caroline); his sisters Mary White and husband Bill, Ann Dawsey, and Betty Moore (widow of Winston); brother Robert Dawsey and wife Loretta; 3 nieces (Betty Ann, Beverly, and Diana), and 1 nephew (John).

Graveside Services with Military Honors rendered by the V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail were held at 2:30 P.M.on Friday, February 17th, 2006, at the Houston National Cemetery Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
