Don Ray Allen
May 22nd, 1924 - September 7th, 2007


Don Ray Allen, 83, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas and was the last child born to his parents. Don served in the Navy and was stationed in the Pacific Islands during WWII. He met his wife of 58 plus years while working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Don worked for the telephone company for almost 40 years before retiring to Lampasas, Texas. He was preceded in death by both parents: William Washington Allen and Martha Leona King and all of his brothers and sisters: Rita James, Jo Ruth Thompson, Eva Sue James, Patrick Harrold Allen, and John Dennis Allen. Don is survived by his wife Eva Dawn Childers of Lampasas, Texas; 2 children: Harrold Don Allen of Midland, Texas and Deborah Sue Smith of Humble, Texas; 7 grandchildren: Kristy Ann Morris of Tyler, Texas, Randy Wayne Lobb of Hobbs, New Mexico, Kelly Don Allen of Lubbock, Texas, James Eric Smith of Humble, Texas, Charla Kaye McShan of Lubbock, Texas, Amanda Sue Smith of Humble, Texas, and Samantha Rose Allen of Marfa, Texas; 6 great-grandchildren: Paxton Grey Richter, Bailey Jay Allen, Bryce Daniel Lobb, Ryan Walker McShan, Chase Allen McShan, Kathryn Ione Schliskey, and one more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services with Pastor Milton Poole officiating were held at 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007, at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, phone 281-447-8686. Don will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
