Jack Davidson Harmon, 83, lost his brief battle with pneumonia on Sunday, May 6th, 2007, at 12:25 P.M. at Memorial Northeast Hospital.
Jack was born in 1923 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Hugh Harmon and Marie Davidson Harmon. During World War II he served in the United States Army in England and Germany receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1945. Returning stateside, Jack graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville before beginning a career in business.
Jack's dedication to the Kingwood Hospital Auxiliary was unwavering throughout the 13 years, from the time he helped start the nonprofit organization, until his retirement in 2004. Previously he had headed the volunteer program at the Northeast Hospital in Humble. As Jack was always a man of high energy, after retirement he returned to volunteering at Memorial northeast Hospital, Southwest Tower, on Friday afternoons where he was often seen providing comfort to patients, and maneuvering wheelchairs.
A second volunteer assignment was given to Jack at The Employers & Job Seekers Ministry organized by J.R. Hollingsworth at the Second Baptist Church, North Campus, in Kingwood on Wednesday mornings. Jack joyfully attended these meetings every Wednesday for over two years, and was the chief of records, arrangements and encouragement.
A Memorial Service with Dr. Tom D. Fritts officiating honoring Jack's life was held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 19th, 2007, at Deerbrook Baptist Church located at 400 Main Street in Humble, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Deerbrook Baptist Church.
He was forever a trusting man of integrity, kindness, loyalty, and compassion. Jack
Harmon will be greatly missed by his wife of 20 years, Nancy, and by all who knew and loved him.
