Ramon Flores Patiño, Sr., 91, passed away on Saturday, February 10th, 2007, in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 14th, 1915 in Mexico to Lorenza Flores and Felipe Patiño.
Ramon was a kind and gentle man that enjoyed gathering with his family and friends for good food, drink, music and dancing and on occasion to play his guitar and sing. As a young man in Mexico City, he and his friends formed a trio called "Los Irresistibles". At times they would be hired to perform at dances or be asked to go out in the middle of the night to serenade a friend's sweetheart.
He worked as a tailor of men's suits with meticulous skill and was often praised by his employers (Alston’s, Harold’s in the Heights,, Leopold, Price & Rolle) for his sartorial abilities. As a tailor he was honored to meet and make tailored suits for many distinguished people, such as Fernando Casanova, a Mexican actor from the 1940's golden era of Mexican Cinema, Houston icons Albert Thomas and Jesse Jones, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Thomas K. Mattingly, Joe H. Engle and baseball player Roger Clemens.
In his youth in Mexico he played basketball and soccer and as an older man he enjoyed watching sports such as baseball, soccer, football and boxing. He passed on his love of sports and music to all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ramon is survived and loved by his wife of 58 years, Consuelo M. Patiño; his 2 daughters: Edith M. Albarran & her husband Primitivo Albarran and Consuelo M. Beltran & her husband Hector Beltran Sr; his 2 sons: Jesus Patiño & his wife Mary and his Ramon Patiño, Jr.; 9 grandchildren: Hector Beltran Jr. & his wife Jennifer, Monica Albarran, Adrianna Albarran, David Patiño, Christina Patiño-Galvan & her husband Jose Luis Galvan, Michael Patiño & his wife Brisa, Patrick McMahan & his wife Lluvia, Andrew Beltran, and Bryan Beltran; 4 great-grandchildren: Solana Patiño, Joshua Albarran, Madison Lynn Beltran, and Samara McMahan; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23rd, 2007, at St. Matthew the Evangelist located at 9915 Hollister Drive, Houston, Texas 77040-1702.
Ramon will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
