Rufus "Pete" Leather Rogers, Jr.,
57, passed away in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, December 11th, 2007.
He was born on August 4th, 1950 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Pete served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and received
an Honorable Discharge ofr his service on April 5, 1976.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lettie Mae Hinshaw and his maternal
grandmother Tessie G. Marley.
Pete is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gaylyn Rogers of Bacliff, Texas;
2 children: Dawn M. Spigle & husband Chris of Stokesdale, North Carolina and
Sean A. Rogers & wife Amber of Pearland, Texas, and their mother Loretta
Currie of New Caney, Texas; 2 step-sons: Mitchell D. High & wife Trina of Bacliff,
Texas and Michael D. High & fiance Jessica of New Caney, Texas; 3 brothers:
Paul Rogers & wife Linda, Jesse Hinshaw & wife Sissy, and Glen Hinshaw & wife
Diane, all of North Carolina; 3 sisters: Barbara Butcher, Penny Schofner & husband
Louie,and Mary Wells & husband Ryan, all of North Carolina; 15 grandkids; and many
other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services were held at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, December 14th, 2007, at the
Houston National Cemetery located at
10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, phone 281-447-8686. Military Honors
were rendered by the V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail.
Pete will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
