Rafael A. Rangel passed away at home in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008. He was born on July 13th, 1927 in Kingsville, Texas to Evalina Areula and Jose Guadalupe Rangel. Rafael served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received an Honorable Dicharge in 1946 for his service. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working there for 42 years.
Rafael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cared about his country and his community. He leaves to mourn in passing his wife of 60 years Ana Maria Rangel; 2 daughters: Renee D. LaGroue and Rossalyn E. Coffery; 2 sons-in-law: David LaGroue and Kenneth Coffey; 4 grandsons: Lance LaGroue, Garrett Coffey, Kevin Coffey, and Conner Coffey; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 1st, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church located at 4918 Cochran Street in Houston, Texas, phone 713-695-0631. Military Honors were rendered by an honor detail from the U.S. Navy. Rafael was laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, phone 281-447-8686.
Rafael will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
