James (Jim) Claude Morton, Jr. passed peacefully on to his Lord and Savior on February 5th, 2009. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jim was born and reared in Houston, Texas and attended San Jacinto High School and Rice University before serving in the United States Air Force. Upon his return from service, he attended the University of Houston where he met his future wife, Joy. Jim graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, but later started his own marketing research firm.
Jim always put his family first and was never too busy to be there for them and participate in all their activities. He was a long-term discussion leader of Bible Study Fellowship. Jim also ministered to inmates through the Harris County Jail Ministries.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joy Miller Morton; two sons and two daughter-in-laws, Daryl and Leslie Morton of Austin, TX, Jeff and Carol Morton of Houston, TX; one daughter, Laura Morton of Jackson, MS; two sisters, Lou Lane and Sue Kingham of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Merrit Morton Vosburg of San Angelo, TX, Macall and Walker Morton of Austin, TX and Jessica and Michael Ziegelbauer of Jackson, MS; one great grandchild, Elisha Vosburg of San Angelo, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 9th, 2009, at Brookside Memorial Park located at 13401 Eastex Fwy (at Lauder Road), Houston, Texas 77039, phone 281-449-6511. A Memorial Service with Pastor Rick Minett officiating was held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 9th, 2009, at Grace Community Church located at 1021 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055, phone 713-465-4252. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grace Community Church building fund or to the charity of your choice.
Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
