Mary Jane Moore was born on December 17th,1929 in Caldwell, Texas. She fought bravely through chronic pain from osteoarthritis and began her new journey in Heaven pain free on January 11th, 2009 at the age of 79. She married William Moore on March 4th, 1948 after meeting him at Baylor University. They were married 53 years until his passing in May of 2001.
Janie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for gardening and although she hated the ''Yard of the Month" signs in her yard each summer, they were rightly deserved. Her backyard had the most well fed birds and squirrels as well as every stray cat who showed up there.
Janie worked for many years at Tennessee Gas until her daughter, Beth, was born. She also worked for McGovern Allergy Clinic for many years until she became a full-time caregiver for Bill. She gave so much of herself caring for others.
"Ma-Moore", as she was known by her grandsons, could be found playing football or baseball with them in her yard. She also had a ‘special drawer' in her kitchen where they automatically went upon arriving at her house for their favorite candy. She loved to watch their lacrosse, football, baseball, and basketball games. "Ma-Moore" also loved to watch them pole vaulting, even when the Oklahoma winds were blowing hard (as they usually do) and her allergies were awful. Sometimes it physically took all her energy to walk out to the ballfields. Many games she sat in the car and watched. Jeff, Daniel and Michael were her pride and joy.
Janie leaves on earth her father, Burton L. Brooks of Tennessee; her daughter Beth Clinkscales; son-in-law Jay Clinkscales; grandsons, Daniel and Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma and grandson Jeff of Stillwater, Oklahoma; many cousins and friends; and the Kerrwood Lane neighbors and friends. They were the most wonderful neighbors anywhere. Day or night, literally, they could be counted on to check on Mom and Dad. You could find them pruning her rose bushes, feeding her birds, putting furniture up when Ike was coming through, taking Mom to doctor's appointments, to the airport, bringing food, bringing her medicines, taking care of her house . . . . and the list goes on. All of you are appreciated and loved.
Janie now joins Bill, her mother, Aunt Louise and many other family & friends in her new home in Heaven. There, her pain is no more, all her questions are answered and she knows without doubt she is rightfully where she belongs because of God's grace.
Funeral Services with Gus Moore officiating were held in the VA Chapel at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 16th, 2009, at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, phone 281-447-8686. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ministries of Jesus Clinic, 1200 E. I-35 Frontage Road, Edmond, OK 73034 or to the SPCA in your area.
Beth and her family appreciate all the prayers, cards, phone cards, and emails that Mom received during this time. She was very blessed indeed with love from all over Texas and Oklahoma and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
