Michael Ray Pope, 56, passed away on Friday, May 8th, 2009 in Houston, Texas. He was born on October 22nd, 1952 in Evansville, Indiana. Michael retired from the United States Air Force on December 31st, 1990 after achieving the rank of TechSgt. He also achieved his Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales.
Michael is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jan Pope of Houston, Texas; his 4 beloved cats: Sam, Billy, Big Mama, and Daisy; 4 nephews: Michael Ellsworth, Steven Ellsworth, Richard Ellsworth, and Phillip Ellsworth; brother-in-law Kenneth Ellsworth; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Military Honor Services were held at 11:15 A.M. on Friday, May 15th, 2009, at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, phone 281-447-8686. Military Honors were rendered by the V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail.
Since Michael was an avid animal lover, and he loved his cats, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Michael's name to an animal charity or to another charity of your choice.
Michael will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
