Elias Adolph Torres,
82, passed away in Houston, Texas on June 1st, 2005.
He was born on July 20th, 1922 in Houston, Texas to Adolph & Jannie Torres.
Elias served as a Platoon Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge on October 10th, 1945.
He also was awarded a Purple Heart for his valiant service.
Elias was a salesman for Lawrence Marshall Chevrolet back in the 1950's and went on to start his own car dealership called El Camino Motors here in Houston.
Elias was preceded in death by both parents;siblings Lois Cawthon, Raymond Torres, Sally May Herrind, Margaret Abbey, Johnny Torres, Winnie E. Slaydon, Belinda Faulkner, and Marie Cain. He is survived by his sons Anthony G. Torres & Timothy W. Torres and their mother Aline K. Torres; sister Gloria Ann Zolman & husband Robert; numerous nieces & nephews; and many friends from Warren's Inn in downtown Houston.
A Military Honor Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2005 at 12:00 P.M. in the VA Chapel at the Houston National Cemetery with V.F.W. District #4 Ceremonial Detail Honor Guard.
Elias was always positive and uplifting and loved by all who knew him.
