She was born on November 30th, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Virginia Sue Bartholomew & Richard Brewer. Many of you know that Marti was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of last year and her passing represents the end of a long and exhausting road after she fought the battle longer than her doctors anticipated. Fortunately, her family had the chance to support her through treatment, care for her in convalescence and say goodbye when the time came. The grieving process began long before now and this brings closure for her family and friends. Marti will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We would like to thank everyone who has been praying for our family over the past year and extend heartfelt gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Althea, Linda, and Sheila.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor Marti on Saturday October 15th at 11:00 AM. Arrangements have been made with St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, on the corner of Westheimer and River Oaks Blvd. No outside flowers are allowed in the church, if you wish to send floral arrangements or plants, please send them attention Teri Chambers, 1220 Blalock #100 Houston, 77055. However, the family would like to honor Marti's request and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of the below charities, or to a charity of your choice. Please have acknowledgements sent to Chris Chambers, 24027 River Place Drive Katy, TX 77494.

Marti was a lover of animals and was a long time supporter of the Houston SPCA. With the plight of so many displaced animals since the hurricane, please consider donating to this worthy cause. Donations can be made online at www.spcahouston.org or by calling 713-869-SPCA.

We have been a first hand witness to the destruction of cancer. It is a consuming disease for the patient and the family. We encourage all of you to stay healthy! Many wonderful people are lost every year and the American Cancer Society is dedicated to lowering those numbers. You can help them by donating online at www.cancer.org or by calling 1-800-ACS-2345.

Please continue to keep Marti's family in your thoughts and prayers as they move forward. Hope that God will send peace and acceptance, strength and safekeeping. Our continued gratitude to a wonderful group of people that have already done so much during this difficult time.

Marti will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
