Being a Foster ParentPot-bellied pigs make wonderful pets for the right person. Please read the FAQ before choosing to adopt or foster a pot-bellied pig. Additional information about caring for these pigs is available on the pig health page. We also provide a list of recommended reading materials and links to other pot-bellied pig web sites. Pigs*A*Lot uses foster homes to house pigs until they are adopted by a loving new parent. Placing the animals with foster parents gives them a greater opportunity to be socialized. This, in turn, increases the likelihood of someone wanting to adopt the pig. Individual pigs that haven't been socialized properly don't make good pets and tend to be more aggressive toward new owners. Our hope is to place pigs with good foster homes that are able to provide a loving and nurturing temporary home for our porcine friends. Foster homes should have the facilities and funding necessary to provide appropriate care for the foster pot-bellied pigs. Responsible foster parents greatly ease the burden on the sanctuary by providing food and shelter for their pig wards. In some instances, Pigs*A*Lot can provide help with feed on a temporary basis, if necessary. Please contact us for more information, or if you would like to get involved!
