Two can be One
BEHOLD! "Another Mystery Of The Ages"
TWO CAN BE ONE!!!
For several month now a debate has gone on about the God-head---is Jesus Christ God, as the Father is God. If we are to prove what is the truth, we must go to the Word of God and find out what He has to say about this question.
God talks to us in symbols, allegories and parables. "Christ answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower" (Matt. 13:11-18).
God asks us, "Whom shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken" (Isa. 28: 9-13).
It is our responsibility to search the scriptures to find truth. "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me" (John 5:39). Beginning with Genesis, God reveals our being at one with Him! "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them" (Gen 1:26-27). The Word God is a plural word. Us is also a plural word. Meaning more than one.
From the beginning of creation God has given the answer to this mystery. "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2: 23-24). We are seeing two persons called one flesh.
God's Word, our guide, tells us in six places that two can become one! (1.) "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Gen. 2:24). (2.) "And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?" (3) "Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder (Matt. 19:5-6). (4.) "And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh" (Mark 10:8). (5.) "What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two, saith He, shall be one flesh" (1 Cor 6:16). (6.) "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh" (Eph. 5:31).
In the book of Ephesians we see the marriage relationship and the family relationship called one. "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the saviour of the body" (Eph. 5:23). Christ tells the husband to love his wife as his own body, just as Christ loves the Church, His body. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church" (Eph. 5:25-32).
The Church is called one body, with one Spirit! "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Eph 4:4-6).
Why do we find it hard to believe that Christ and the Father are one! They are two beings with one Spirit, one mind and one goal. That goal is to give man the opportunity to be in the God family. It is our job as Christians to follow what Christ and the Father tells us! We do not have to depend on the reasoning of scholarly men. If we keep our eyes on the goal of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness we cannot lose.
We must keep our eyes on what God tells us from the beginning! "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:1-14).
When we take our eyes off the Word of God and start following the words of man, we become deceived and follow the anti-christ. Any who say Christ is not God, is against Christ. They are deceivers and should not be followed. When you go back to Judaism for your answers you are following anti-christ. In these last days we are seeing many going the way of deception, and deceiving others by going back to Judaism! "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time" (1 John 2:18).
How can we know if we are being deceived? "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world" (1 John 4:1-3).
The Apostle Paul tells us we can be a part of the body if we eat Christ's Passover. "For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread" (1 Cor. 10:17). We are also told, "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. But now are they many members, yet but one body" (1 Cor 12:17,20).
