God's Divine Laws - Part 1
Part I
What is the purpose of government? Our forefathers expressed their real purpose of government when they wrote the preamble of our constitution. "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution of the United States of America."
While the desire was to give these blessings to our nation, the mere writing of a constitution, no matter how carefully drawn, would not, in itself, secure these blessings for a people, it is impossible to establish justice, unless those intrusted with the enforcement of its laws are just, righteous, and lawful.
People like us agonize over government when it departs from laws fundamental to righteousness in its administration. Many of our government officials claim to be Christian. 46% [present day] of Americans describe themselves as born again Christians! Many talk about God and quote the Bible, yet have no real relationship with God, except to go to church on Sunday and carry a Bible. They don't believe a person who is a Christian, must live differently from others. They do not realize just going to church, does not make you a Christian any more than going to a doughnut shop in the morning, makes you a police officer!
Neither does Jesus saves bumper stickers, on your car make you a Christian. People should be able to tell, if you were arrested for being a Christian. How?? Because there would be enough [good] character evidence to convict you!
The story of Simon Magus in the Bible illustrates how people will pretend to be converted, just to get what they want. We have to understand it's not what we think, it's what God thinks!!!
He thinks we should seek first the Kingdom of God---the government of God. That is what we are admonished to do in Matthew 6:33. "Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness."
Most of mankind are engrossed in laboring for the meat that perishes, and water that never fully quenches the thirst, as will as, spending money for that which is temporary. Too often man is prone to make material things the main object of their search in life. With those tendencies in all of us, we as Christians need to ask ourselves, are we truly "seeking first the Kingdom of God." Are we ready to serve and teach others? Do we understand God's government and are we practicing His divine laws?
The Bible contains doctrines and commands, which are God given authority for direction and control over our lives! But mankind does not like to acknowledge statements like that.
There are two lawyers in Germany that are upset with the Bible. They feel it is to dangerous for children to read. Let me quote what they say, "Genocidal, racist Bible?
Two Bavarian German lawyers are trying to protect children from reading the Bible because of its violent, homophobic and anti-Semitic content. They are asking for the Bible to be put on a list of books considered dangerous for children. They say the Bible preaches genocide, racism, enmity towards Jews, gruesome execution of adulterers and homosexuals, the murder of ones own children and other perversities. They say: the Bible should remain on the dangerous list until the "bloodthirsty and human rights-- violating passages ---were taken out!" Asked what would take the Bibles place for young minds. Perhaps the lawyers Bible would provide a gentler, kinder text with more political correct and scientifically plausible plot. Jesus would not be the Son of God, but a good guy who had excelled in yoga and contributed to charities for aids and dying rain forest--a token spiritual practitioner and token community service specialist. The stuff about "miracles" would have to go! Above all the lawyers say you have to leave out the part about the crucifixion. Too messy!! Better to have Jesus ride off into the sunset in His sport utility vehicle--settle down and get in touch with His feelings! When the Bavarian legal warriors put down their red pens---they can take satisfaction in knowing that they have turned what was once called the greatest story ever told into something current, relevant and devoid of any meaning!!!! Washington Times Aug. 22, 2000.
I pray that kind of attitude never invades our minds. God cannot record and transmitted His Holy directions and divine laws through physical men like those quoted above. They just prove our understanding comes through a calling from God the Father. They have yet to acknowledge, "Who wrote the book of love." This book of love is the living instruction book for mankind. It contains within its pages the governing instructions for man to have true peace, safety and happiness. If obeyed, God instruction guidelines are headline news contained in Laws set forth in the Ten Commandments, the statutes, and divine law governing Godly judgments.
The Ten Commandments has remained the fundamental standard of conduct for countless millions of people. It is the only law that can effectively control the conscience of man. We must understand also, that the Ten Commandments will never become obsolete. They express God's will and character for eternity.
When Israel obeyed God's laws they prospered. But when they turned away from God's laws, trouble and defeat would follow them. The foundation for order in any society rests upon authority! But whose authority?
Our human, voted in leaders and lawgivers say, "All power is from the people and in the people." For example, Kofi Annan, the Secretary General of the United Nations [New World Order president], said on February 24th 1998, at the U.N. Headquarters, "We are the ultimate power," when I talk of the United Nations, I am not talking only of the staff and those of us in this building, I am talking about the United Nations of "we the people." When we pull together from across the world and work together to solve a problem, we almost always can do it. On these crises, when the world comes together, things happen. Together we are the ultimate power. If we pull our efforts together we can get almost everything done--all of us around the world "we the people." New York December 1, 1997. "The will of the people must be the basis of governmental authority. That is the foundation of democracy. That is the foundation of good governance. Good governance will give every citizen.... a real and lasting stake in the future of their societies---politically, economically and socially." University of Tehran December 10, 1997. "Human rights are the foundation of human existence... human rights are universal, indivisible and interdependent...human rights are what make us human. They are the principles by which we create the sacred home for human dignity...it is the universality of human rights that give them their strength. It endows them with the power to cross any border, climb any wall, defy any force."
My Creators instruction book to life, the Holy Bible, tells me, "There is no power, but of God" (Rom. 13:1). And in Isaiah 33:22 God says, "For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us." These statements are the underlying principles of all just and righteous, law abiding governments.
When this world's government realize this fact, then and then only will Satan and his governments be destroyed!
That which comes from God is, and forever will be, absolute, supreme and final in authority. God's eternal laws that are set forth in the Bible meet every need for mankind.
Joshua who succeeded Moses as Israel's leader was told, "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; But you shalt meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: [notice it does not say what is orally said] for then you shalt make your way prosperous, and then you shalt have good success"(Jos. 1:8).
Obedience to God's laws is the key to success. It attunes us to the harmony of God's character and image. When man come to a realization that the commandments apply to individual conduct and the statutes to national administration with judgments decisions being rendered under both the Commandments and the Statutes then there will come an understanding of the law which will lay a foundation on which to build.
Today there are three governmental systems of man: 1.Capitalism 2. Socialism 3. Communism. These have proven inadequate in bringing peace and security to mankind. Webster's Dictionary gives us the definition of these three governments.
1. Capitalism
Is an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital good's, and investment that are determined by private decision rather than by state control, and by price, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.
2. Socialism
Is governmental ownership and administration of production and distribution of goods. A system of society or group living in which there is no private property. A system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.
3. Communism
A totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state owned means of production with the professed aim of establish a stateless society. It advocates elimination of private property. A system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed.
None of these represent God's government or system. This is spelled out clearly through-out God's Word. None of these will bring blessings of peace and prosperity. Example: The Bible clearly sanctions private ownership and the protection of a man and his possessions. The tendency today is to ignore the rights of private possessions and that can have only one ending destruction of prosperity and depression. This is the evils of today's government. They want to be in the business controlling privately owned business and property.
The Bible does not teach the doctrine of community possessions. God did not say that man were to sit under a common vine and fig tree, as today's government----and the One World Order-- wants us to believe. Micah says, "But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it" (Mic 4:4).
When operating under the government of God we are told in Isaiah that our homes are to be private property and possessed by those who build them. "And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of My people, and Mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands" (Isa. 65:21- 22).
These are laws, governed by God's government! Not man kinds government. God from the beginning of creation has revealed to man His laws. He is the fountain head of all laws and there order! To know and to keep God's divine laws is to live! To belittle or disregard them brings sorrow, suffering until death terminates life.
The first command God gave to man is found in Genesis 2. "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shalt not eat of it: for in the day that you eat there of you shalt surely die" (Gen. 2:15-17).
The commands of God became the law of life for man. So from the very beginning man became subject to God's commands. Adam who was created in the image of God, was given the right to chose. In obedience---a blessing!! In disobedience---a curse!
When mankind is at variance with God's laws there can be only one result. Sin brings on troubles and tribulation. Adam and Eve found that out, when they disobeyed. Sin is disobedience to the commands of God. Said another way, Sin is a refusal to keep God's laws. "Whosoever commits sin transgreseses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4). Sin is lawlessness! It is being insubordinate to God's wishes. It is wanting one's own ways. It is placing one's own will above the will of God.
For us to say we are Christian God's commandments must be observed, kept and obeyed! They cannot be altered!!!
David, the psalmist when speaking of God's law states, "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul" (Psa. 19:7). Apostle Paul fully agrees with David. He said, "The law is holy and the Commandments are holy, just and good" (Romans 7:12). Reading still in Psalms 19 verse 7- 9, "The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the Commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the Judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. You have heard the saying, "This is the long and short of it." This is what these verses are relating to. The law of the Lord is perfect [long] converting the soul [short]. The testimony of the Lord is sure [long] making wise the simple [short]. Sometime look at the rest of these verses in Psalms 19 and you will see the long and short of them. Then compare the different terms with Psalm 119. David's words in Psalm 19 are unmistakably clear. Yet far to many ignore them.
Nowhere in scripture is it stated that a Christian is free from the need of keeping God's laws, statutes and judgments! Violation of keeping them is sin. The man on the street does not need to open his Bible to find what the definition of sin is. Sin is defined in the dictionary! 1. An offense against religious or moral law; 2. An action that is felt to be highly reprehensible; 3. Disagreement in thought, word, deed, or desire, whether by omission or commission with the divine law!
The laws of God have never been hidden from man. From the garden of Eden until the flood in Noah's day, there arose a civilization, apart from God. Man became a law unto himself. The results, was complete civilization failure! Clear evidence of this is found Genesis. "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them" (Gen. 6:5, 7). The flood of Noah's time brought an end to a civilization that was filled with violence and heinous crimes. After the flood a new human government was established. And to that government God issued the command, "Whoso sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man" (Gen. 9:6).
This is the first evidence introducing human government and God's laws, man was now being advised to organize a Society and government and to curb violence. Acknowledging this one command all earthly governments has the right duty and command to bring to justice a murderer and subject him or her to the death penalty!
From the beginning of mans creation he has failed to recognize God's divine law operating in his life. The revelation of God's laws is from antiquity. Job who lived a few hundred years after the flood makes mention of God's commandments. "Neither have I gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the words of His mouth more than my necessary food" (Job 23:12). One of Job's three counselors encouraged Job, "Receive, I pray you, the law from God's mouth, and lay up His words in your heart" (Job 22:22).
Abraham was keeping these same laws some 400 years before the organization of Israel at Mount Sinai. This is born out in Genesis 26:5, "Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws." Abraham observed God's laws long before Moses was born. Law is the very essence of life. Without law, anarchy would reign and society would be in a state of lawlessness and disorder under which no government could function, just as we have seen happen before the deluge.
Those who say they are Christians and who refuse to observe and keep the laws of God are in rebellion against Divine rule and government! That is a serious charge! Simon Peter declares: those who despise Government are presumptuous and self- -willed!! "But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities" (2 Peter 2:10).
What is the sin of presumption?? Under the kingdom laws [God's government laws] of administration, It is deliberately doing that which is known to be forbidden! We read of this in Numbers 15. We will see God takes presumptuous people to task. "You shall have one law for him that sins through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them. But the soul that does anything presumptuously, ( deliberately ) whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, that brings reproach on the Lord; that soul shall be cut off from among His people. Because he has despised the word of the Lord, and has broken His commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him" (Num. 15:29-31).
Christ, in Matthew 5 is clearly following through with this thought. "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least Commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matt. 5:19).
Greatness in the kingdom will come to those, who have kept and taught others to keep even the least of God's living laws. Christ said, "For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." Jesus Christ simply means that His followers must be keeping His laws better than the Pharisees and scribes. [God's Word---NOT oral tradition]. We are to observe all the rules and regulations that are contained in the Commandments, statutes and judgments.
Part I ask the question, "Do we understand God's government and are we practicing God's divine laws ?? The reason this question is asked is because, people like us agonize over government when it departs from law fundamental to righteousness in its Administrations. Man has to come to understand it is not what man thinks--it is what God thinks that matters.
Ever since the time of Adam, man has rebelled against the government of God as the supreme ruler of the universe. God has decreed that 6000 years be alloted to man to decide for himself whether he will voluntarily submit to the government of God.
Man universally has rejected God's rule, and His authority in his life. What God has been doing these passed 6000 years, very few have recognize. They do not realize that now is not the time God is trying to save the World.
He is rather calling out of the world a select few whom He has chosen to use. But those few selected must voluntarily choose to Obey Him! What makes us a Christian is doing what God asks of us and that is to "Seek first the government of God and His righteousness."
God called Abraham and in this calling, chose a family through whom He proposed to work, making Abraham descendants a servant nation. A nation to become the administrators of His Governmental, Kingdom laws. It is through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that God would demonstrate to all nations the righteousness and the perfection of His government !
