Charles and Josephine Haile Coe
According to records in Cooke County, TX, Josephine P Haile and
Charles M Coe were issued a marriage license on February 28, 1873. Josephine's
father reports in a letter dated 08/27/1881 that Josephine and Charles are
living at Dexter, TX, and he is a Deputy Sheriff of Cooke County. Then on 05/17/1890 Josephine's
father reports Josephine is a widow with six children living on her brother's
farm and Balm, TX, is her address. Charles and Josephine Coe are buried at Hibbit Cemetery north east of
Gainesville in Cooke County, TX. Charles died in July 1929 and Josephine died
in October of that same year.
Sue Richardson submitted the following
information on this family and if you can add anything she would love to hear
from you. Sue was told by her family that Charles left his
family for 20+ years and no one knew where he was. She was also told that
he walked back in one day and said, "I'm home". Josaphine took him back and
no one ever knew where he had been.
