According to the research of my Uncle C.M. Elmore b1899 the history of the Taylor family reaches back into the 1700's and they are of English descent. This, James and Elizabeth Taylor are the first couple he knew in this country. Their family traveled by ox cart from Virginia to North Carolina to Kentucky. When they found they did not like Kentucky some of their sons were sent to search out a good location in Tennessee. THE HISTORY OF ROVER AND THE 10TH DISTRICT OF BEDFORD COUNTY, published in 1986, by the Rover Historical Society reports that James and Elizabeth Taylor had six children:
