Dear Cousins and Friends,
This is a transcription of the Long family Bible record. The Bible has come
down through the children of Joseph B. Long and Emeline McCoy. It has the
little section of "Henry Longs Family", which indicates that Henry and Rachel
may have had the Bible at one time. The records were obviously written in
after Joseph Long married Agnes Kimsey in 1813. The Long family is known
to have been living in Bedford Co., Tenn. when Mary Long and William S.
Carpenter's son, Joseph Asbury Carpenter, was born in 1829. A daughter,
Amelia, was born there in 1831. Later children were born in Alabama.
Several family members are in the 1830 census of Bedford County.
I do not know when the Bible was printed. The pages containing these records
are loose from any bound book. They are still joined at the 'spine',
however, indicating that they were not cut out, but perhaps came loose for
another reason.
