We hope this publication is a source of pleasure to all. The people who lived it will enjoy a walk down memory lane while others will enjoy the rich history of the making of a city. The following is a preview of the twelve chapters in this book.

CHAPTER 1 and 2 were compiled by Lila Coley and Pat Fox and present details of the lives of the pioneers and early settlers.

CHAPTER 3 was compiled by Linda Newton and deals with the decision to merge small, unincorporated community centers into one incorporated village.

CHAPTER 4 tells of the growing need for community services and how they developed from one small public building with only volunteer services to the fine new city buildings and twelve city departments we enjoy in 2006. Molly Munson compiled information from numerous sources including Andy Stoody, Charlotte Del Hierro, Joe Deupree, Bill Hudgins, and Monica Walsh.

CHAPTER 5 begins with the story of the earliest known local stores and continues with a sampling of the businesses of today.

CHAPTER 6 reveals the high regard early inhabitants had for education and traces schools from the very earliest days to the present. Tommy Taylor contacted the present-day schools and encouraged them to submit their history for publication. He also photographed each school.

CHAPTER 7 covers places of worship. Carol Wollin contacted all these entities in the city and helped each with the submission of their history and a photo.

CHAPTER 8 details the involvement of citizens in various associations and organizations. Much information was received for this chapter with the final authority for present organizations resting with the current presidents.

CHAPTER 9 records the city's community events that have given character to this growing community. Shirley Schollmeyer and Linda Newton are among those to be thanked for producing material for this chapter.

CHAPTER 10 highlights unusual events and people in an effort to preserve the past. Thanks to Pat Fox for her production of this chapter.

CHAPTER 11 salutes all veterans who have defended our nation so unselfishly. Lila Coley is to be thanked for the text and pictures included in this chapter.

CHAPTER 12 concluded Colleyville's history with the narratives of old and new residents who have made Colleyville their home. Frances Fitzgerald is to be thanked for her tireless work on this project.
