| August 2nd, 1996 I developed and posted the web-site for the Austin Child Guidance Center. This web-site provides therapeutic resources for children and their families in Austin, as well as continuing education opportunities for professionals. Their web-site was updated in August 1997 with some great graphics and pictures, making the whole site more "kid" friendly. Contact them at auschild@aol.com. | In 1996-1997 I worked at the School
of Social Work with first year Masters students
on developing personal web-sites as a form of "Professional Use of Self."
This exciting project has the potential to
produce a whole new generation of Internet savvy social workers. Jean
Avera, Bonnie Bain, Jane
Kretzschmar and I presented our findings of this project at
the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Conference, March 1997 in Chicago.
The response was very positive. I hope that one day web-site development will be an easy and
integrated part of all social work curriculum.

| The Texas Kids Count Web-site continues to evolve. On April 1, 1997, the Center for Public Policy Priorities became the host for the Texas Kids Count site. Some aesthetic improvements were made to the site and an interactive order form was added. One of the most exciting parts of the web-site is a repository of data. I'm working closely with Pam Hormuth, Director of the Texas Kids Count Project, to make this one of the most user friendly and visually pleasing data sites in cyberspace. Check it out. Let us know what you think. |
