You know I can talk endlessly about my dogs which are my
pride and joy, however, when it comes to talking about myself, well, it
becomes a little harder. Let's start with the basics.
My name is Stacy Buchanan and I grew up in West
Bloomfield, Michigan. I am presently living in suburban Detroit with my dogs.
I am working for Deloitte & Touche, LLP in their Technology Department.
How did I get from there to here?
While growing up I was always interested in animals. I
brought everything I could find home with me - much to my parents "delight".
If I could catch it - I brought it home.
At that time dogs were a passion of someone else in
my family. My older brother, Bruce, wanted a dog. The dog he
wanted was an Alaskan Malamute.
Naturally we ended up with a dog other than the Alaskan Malamute. We
ended up with English Setters. I can remember spending countless hours
chasing those d*** dogs when they would get lose.
I went on to college, and studied for a job that would pay
well, and ended up in Computer Technology. During that time I
worked for several years in a veterinarians office. I learned ALOT and was there long
enough to learn to be dangerous ~ but not enough that he would let me
do any surgery.
Enter, the first four legged companion...
I went on to make a few more major decisions in my life that
caused me to take a few more interesting side trips. One of these was
to get married, and while I can honestly say it was quite an experience,
there was one momentous thing that occurred during it. My in-laws (God
Bless them!) bought my ex-husband a dog. An Alaskan Malamute,
and that's where this all started.
Mandy was my first Alaskan Malamute and she taught me many things.
Especially what a malamute should not be. While this was a very sad
episode in my life - it taught me a lot about temperment.
Beaux was my second malamute and my first attempt with a show dog.
This dog taught me a lot about what a malamute should be. While he may
not been a top contender in the show ring, he showed me what being a
perfect companion dog is all about.
Princess was my third Alaskan Malamute and my first Champion Dog.
Princess is still with me and the tender age of 13 yrs plus. I
learned some very important lessons from this girl as well. I learned
about cataracts.
Maverick & Diamond were next. Now we were into some
serious stuff. I had done my research and purchased these dogs because
of the lines they came from. This is where I wanted to establish
my roots.
So here I am, working in the Technology field, and following
my passion during my off hours. The rest of this site
tells the rest of this story. Afterwards I think you will
realize just how rich my life has turned out to be.
