Don Ray Huffman

Don Ray Huffman, Manager of Operating Practices in North Little Rock, was killed Tuesday October 8, in an automobile Accident.

Don Hired out as a clerk in North Little Rock in November 1968. He was promoted to Locomotive Engineer on the Louisiana Division of the Missouri Pacific in 1973. He was appointed to Road Foreman of Engines in Fort Worth in June of 1983, and was appointd to General Road Foreman in July 1986. He had been Manager of Operating Practices in North Little Rock since August of 1991.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer, Division 585, in North Little Rock.

Don joined the Arkansas National Guard in 1968 and served for seven years.

Survivors his wife of 27 years, Pam Barnett Huffman of North Little Rock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin Ray and Kristie Huffman and David Wayne and Kerry Huffman; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Huffman of North Little Rock; his grandmother, Donas Gotcher of North Little Rock; one sister and her husband, Wanda and Jim Carter of Rullellville, Arkanses; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronnie and Jean Barnett and Bill and Donna Shields. He leaves two grandchildren, Mary Catherine and Joshua Christopher along with several nieces and nephews.

Don's funeral was held Tuesday October 11 at the First Methodist Church in North Little Rock. He was burried at Rest Hills Memorial Park of North Little Rock.

Don was held in high esteem by Union Pacific People in Fort Worth. In 1991, we regretted seeing him transferred to North Little Rock, but we knew he was happy to go back to his home. We are deeply saddened by the news of his death.
