Some time ago my wife Gloria and I were cleaning out my parents home. Gloria pulled a box out from under the bed. It contained old quilt scraps and an old baby blanket. She removed the blanket and asked, "What is this?"

To my surprise,, it was Susie. I hadn't seen Susie in 55 years, but I remembered her name. It was an old Patsy doll that my mother had bought for me when I was about five years old.

Mother got it because she had been sewing with her new Singer machine and I wanted to sew something, too. She got one of my Dad's old shirts and cut out a pattern to fit my Patsy Doll. You could still see where I had been sewing and my mother went over the stitches with her sewing machine.

After 55-years, Susie had her original shoes, socks and the dress I had sewed. I've had to repair Susie where her face, arms and legs needed work, but now she is as good as new.

My Grand-daughter Amanda plays with Susie and tells everyone she is 55-years old. Here is a picture of Amanda and Susie taken a couple of years ago. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Amanda, age 4 1/2 -- Susie, Age 55
