At BOP Yard in Arlington, we have two jobs, Dodgers 7 & 8 which go to work at 12:01 a.m. On Friday, May 10th, the Brakeman on Dodger 8 had an automobile accident and could not make it to work, CMS tried to get someone to work in his place, but there was no one available. Instead of just giving up, the Conductor on Dodger 8 got with the crew on Dodger 7,
This was RD Gode, JD Cochran, BW Woodrum, and PK Armistead Jr and dug in. The fellows at Arlington know that there is a certain amount of switching that must be done to keep the Yard in shape and have cars for customers available, especially the General Motors Plant, which not only has to be switched, but spotted on time. These men combined to get the switching done and the Plant on time, they switched about 300 cars, and did it in a Safe and Efficient way. A big thanks and hats off to these men for digging in to take care of business.
This is not the first time something like this has happened and this isn't the only crew that has done something like this, the men at Arlington are proud of their accomplishments and take pride in getting the work done. They are especially proud of the Safety at Arlington.
Thanks to all the men at Arlington for not only making this a good place to work, but one of the SAFEST places on the railroad to work.
