Fort Worth Railroad Day Celebration


Comemmorates 120th Anniversary of First Train's Arrival

< P>July 20 and 21 are the celebration days of the first train's arrival in Fort Worth on July 19, 1876.

This citywide event will take place in the Histroric Stockyards and at the Texas and Pacific Depot on the south side of Downtown, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.

A special concert of railroad songs will be held by Kim O'Conner and the Lucky Railroad Rangers at the White Elephant Beer Garden from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.

Model railroad displays, safety programs, historic information, railroad memorabilla and antique and railroad vendors will be on display at both locations - The Live Livestock Exchange Building on Exchange Avenue and the Texas and Pacific Depot on Lancaster Avenue Downtown.

There will be a Children's Activity Center to stir up railroad interests for the young ones. "Puffy," the 1896 restored steam engine will be celebrating its 100th birthday with its regular runs between Stockyards Station and 8th Avenue Yards.

A $1.00 donation will be exchanged for an exciting "Railroad Hunt Ticket" to be stamped by participating merchants. Gifts, awards and door prizes will be awarded.
