
A retirement party was held for Yardmaster Ronny Lobban Jr 26 November. "Ronny" Lobban Jr., 55, Former SP General Yardmaster retired, in October with 36 years service.
He took full retirement medical disability effective October 1997. His hearing had deteriorated, making it impossible for him to continue as Yardmaster.
Ronny started railroading November 12, 1961 as a switchman at SP Downtown Dallas and Miller Yards.
He was promoted to Yardmaster in 1971 and was the oldest Yardmaster on the SP Eastern Lines.
He and his wife Sandra have three grown sons. Ronny's father was also a switchman at Dallas with 1943 seniority.
