Changes on the Fort Worth Service Unit

Several things are happening at the Mesquite Intermodal Facility. Forney Road has already been closed to allow for expansion of the piggyback terminal. Work has been started to lengthen the four tracks in the Pig Yard and tie them into the siding.

The gatehouse has been moved to the lower right of the picture on page 9. Track 4 will have a connection to a Wye for westbound movement, as will tracks from the yard side.

Ford Motor Company will be shipping up to 40 carloads a day into the auto unloading facility.

Two new tracks are scheduled for construction at Chico. One is to be completed in mid March and the other in mid April.

Hicks siding has been extended to 9310 feet, which will allow for trains of 8260 feet to use it without cutting for the crossing.

Paving of the Back Road into the Ney Yard Switch Shanty has been started. The road will be 12 feet wide and 2,000 feet long.

The Barnhart Wye is being re-routed to allow placement of some of the piers for the new I-30/I-35 Mixmaster. The new Wye will have a greater radius and also will tie into the Industrial Lead to give three running tracks in the Depot area.

The Interlocker at the south end of Ney Yard will be removed. The SP tracks will tie directly into the UP tracks. and be under the control of our local STO Dispatcher.

Our new Service unit boundaries now extend to Ennis from Both Fort Worth and Dallas. This includes the Ennis Yard. They still extend to Waxahachie and Denton from Dallas, to Hodge, Chico, Wrenn, Everman, Sweetwater and Mineola.
