Let's talk about Key Trains again. Last month there was a question that came out upside down. My intention was to show a situation where a Key Train could get an "Integrity Failure" at a Hot Box Detector and not be required to make an immediate inspection.
The situation is when the Key Train's speed falls below 10 MPH when passing over or stops over the detector AND the detector announces "Integrity Failure". When both these conditions are met, then you can comply with Item 13.6 b.
Let's do a few more questions concerning the "Instructions For Handling Hazardous Materials" Form 8620.
I. You have to make an unscheduled pick up of hazardous materials. You do not have the shipping papers, but you can get the information from the dispatcher. Are you required to hand print this information onto a piece of paper?
A. Yes.
B. No.
II. Same location as above. Not only do you not have the shipping papers but you don't have the emergency response information normally printed at the bottom of the consist. You do have The DOT Emergency Response Guidebook. Does this guidebook serve as acceptable emergency response information?
A. Yes.
B. No.
III, You are working on a hump job and you have a flat car carrying containers Placarded Class 4, Dangerous When Wet placards. The hump list shows the containers to be empty.
Can you hump this car?
A. Yes.
B. No.
IV. We are going to make a switch move with a car placarded Explosive 1.1. We need a buffer car behind the engine. The question is, can we use a car placarded Explosive 1.5 as the buffer car?
A. Yes.
B. No.
