Madison W. Reed

Madison "Matty" William Reed, 90 of Fort Worth, was born February 20, 1907 in Fort Worth and passed away Wednesday, March 5, 1997 in Fort Worth.

Mr. Reed was a retired Locomotive Engineer and worked 45 years for the Frisco and Southern Pacific Railroads. His son, Dan, is also a Southern Pacific Engineer.

His father-in-law, B.B. Williams, was a Texas and Pacific switchman. His brother-in-law, B.B. Williams II was T and P General Freight Agent. He was also cousin of T and P engineer Howard Finley.

Mr. Reed was the Fort Worth City Golf Champion in the early 1930's and was an avid golf club collector. His early golf associates included Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Reed of Fort Worth; two sons, Madison W. Reed Jr and wife Linda of Venus, TX and Harry Dan Reed and wife Carolyn of Wylie, TX; six grandchildren, Christy Reed, Gregory Reed, Susan Crawford, Kimberly Reed, Jamison Reed and Spenser Reed; one great granddaughter, Hallie Madison Reed; sister Helen White of Grand Junction, CO.

Funeral service was held at Laurel Land Funeral Chapel at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 1997 with interment in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
