I. This question deals with one that came up in Mineola earlier and I
promised to research a little further. (glad I did). We are
in double track CTC territory. We are heading west on the #1 Main Track
when we come across an unspecified yellow flag, (we have no paper work on
It). One mile down the road we are crossed over to the #2 main. Are we
relieved of Rule 5.4.2 B. Restriction not specified in wrting?
A. Yes.
B. No.
II. We are in CTC and stopped at a Stop Indication governing movement over a Dual Control Switch. The dispatcher informs us that the control machine does not indicate the switch is lined and locked. We are given authority to pass the Stop Indication and instructed to operate the switch by hand. When we get to the switch we see it is lined for our route. Do we still need to operate the switch by hand?
A. Yes.
B. No.
III. Refering to the previous question, the dispatcher did not instruct us to return the switch to power, or, to leave the switch in hand operation. So, what do we do?
A. Leave the switch in hand throw unless instructed otherwise.
B. Return the switch to power unless instructed otherwise.
IV. We are not through with the dual control switch quite yet. When do we return the switch to power operation?
A. After the lead trucks pass the switch.
B. After at least one unit or one car has passed over the switch.
V. We have Track and Time, including the siding. We want to put a dual control switch in hand throw to do some switching. Do we need to have authority for this if we are in Track and Time?
A. Yes.
B. No.
