Steam Trains and the Civil War
Texas State Railroad - June 12, 13, 14 & 15

Historic steam trains will be used in a major Civil War re-enactment, June 12, 13, 14 and 15, at the Texas State Railroad.

On Thursday and Friday the Northern and Southern troops will have a two-day military campaign. During the campaign the troops will travel on foot, by wagon, or on horseback throughout a 4000 acre tract of timber company land.

On Friday afternoon the troops and their equipment will be transported by rail to Palestine for the weekend battles that will be set up for public viewing.

On Saturday and Sunday,June 14 and 15, the public will be able to view the Civil War battles while on the train.

For park visitors who would like to see the full length battle, and visit the hitoric Civil War camps, a public viewing area will be set up.

A small donation fee will be charged for the public viewing area.
